I think victor could use a trainer like him especially since he took such an emotional shot in his last fight.

Just because he got dropped doesn't mean the fight wasn't going his way since had just knocked the guy down. However when the cut came the guy just wanted out when it was clear he could continue...that is lack of heart.

dude roach isnt good for victor. there isnt anything wrong with the trainer he has. even victor admitted that he didnt even listen to his corner, so how the hell is changing the corner gonna help? plus, roach isnt the best trainer. anyone with a watchfull eye can see that the difference btwn being a good trainer. and a great trainer is the ability to build a strong relationship with ur fighter. floyd mayweather sr is a much more knowledgeable trainer than freddie roach, but roach's relationship with pac is strong, and they trust each other alot. Victor ortiz is better off staying with the man that adopted him, the man that took him in, and treated him like family. they have the relationship necessary to be successful. Roach is overrated imo

victor just got excited and didn't fight the correct fight.
Not Roberto Garcia but his brother Danny.

It is lack of heart (for an elite boxer), but it's not no heart like you said before.

I've seen a few of Ortiz' fights and he's never really used his jab. He would throw it just like he did in the Maidana fight some range finder type thing he'd do 5 or so times a round. You can't fight a power puncher without it and you can't improvise it in the middle of a fight where you're tired.

And you don't tell a rising fighter that got cut for the first time, in his first main event, you're gonna stop the fight because he got hit with a couple flush shots.

He was already panicked and his trainer panicked. Elite trainers don't.

he told him he would stop it if he didnt keep his hands up..... i would have said the same thing. and roy jones rarely used his jab, but yet, hes a legend.... a jab is a good weapon, but not that u have to use

Alot of people are underrating Maidana and saying that what Ortiz was doing was wrong. To me, I was impressed by both fighters. I'm still a firm believer that Ortiz can make it real far in this business, along with Maidana, who is also extremely underated. It's just that both of them ended up clahsing before they reached their prime exposure, so of course it's going to effect them ultimately.

That's why you're not an elite trainer, you don't tell that to a rookie, you tell that to a vet. Ortiz panicked with the cut and so did his trainer.

You have to be extremely fast to get away without using a jab ala RJ and Mayweather, Ortiz isn't, so he needs one. And even Mayweather has to use it once in a while, like when fought the power punching Corrales.

Ortiz is a real good counter puncher with real good combinations, but he needs a jab if he wants to be and stay a top fighter, whether he likes it or not.

Either that or he better find a way to strengthen his beard so he can take the flush shots he's gonna be eating in the firefights he's gonna be in
