I applaud Victor Ortiz for quitting.

Can you imagine in the future fighters feeling the opponent they are with in the ring is stronger and immediately quitting anticipating a long night?
yea, but quitting in the ring does not always happen and most that quit in the ring tend to come back and fight better.

Sometimes the least macho thing you do is the smartest thing you do.I remember when i was 17 in NYC i had 2 friends(brothers) and 1 got into an argument with this kid and the older brother(manny) decided to walk away and the other kid is calling him a coward, *****, etc. So manny's brother(hector) tells manny "you're taking that ****? So manny tells him to let it go. Well hector walks out to fight the guy and this year will be 27th anniversary of hector being shot and killed by that kid. Like i said, sometimes the least macho thing you do is the smartest.
Come on man quit trying to compare boxing to street fighting with guns. Victor Ortiz quit. End of story. The tough luck and heart felt stories and comparisons are all well and good but all they do is attempt "coma". And come on man do you really think he was getting beat to the point of a coma? You my friend are a drama king. Wear your panties proudly.

You can attempt to paint it in a positive light all you want but at the end of the day the Sky is Blue, Grass is Green and Victor Ortiz quit. It is that black and white.

He did not sign a contract to be a baseball player, football player, etc.... He signed a contract to be a professional boxer! It is the equal to Albert Pujols going 0-3 with the 3 K's in his first 3 AB's and just deciding not to take his 4th AB because he feels like he can't hit that particular pitcher.

Ortiz was in a winnable fight that tested his mettle. With a little hear and gumption he beats Maidana.

I seriously would be surprised if Ortiz ever fought again.
You comparing what he did to baseball, football, etc.....lol You are getting killed in the ring if you think that way. Ortiz went in there to win, not quit and when he realized he had nothing left to beat this guy in the ring, he decided to stop. PLEASE stop using your machismo to tell it your way. If he would've kept going and got knocked out and put in a coma there be people in here talking about why he kept going and look at him....a vegeatable. Some of you guys are funny as hell.

Likely he was thinking of saving his career and not letting some machismo **** take over. Might prove to be a smart move for his future, if he can get over the "L" and get back to work.

I did think a LOT of people had gotten ahead of themselves on Ortiz beforehand, though - people talking about this guy like he was a killer already, when I hadn't seen anything that spectacular. Weird. I knew Maidana from his fight with Kotelnik and thought he could give Ortiz plenty to think about, so, mildly surprised to hear of "Vicious" losing last night but not massively.

Gonna go watch this fight now and see what's up.

Quit with the coma talk. You are being a drama queen. It gets real old. Are you a doctor? I have seen much worse beatings than this one. And the guys receiving those beatings fought till the end.

Dude, i have no problem wearing my panties proudly in this situation. That beats being a guy who thinks that YOU would've done things differently. YOU are such a joke to think that you would've done things differently if you were in the ring....oops forgot...you are not in the ring.

No, I am not a fighter. I didn't not sign a contract to be a professional boxer. This is not about me. Way to try and divert the conversation.
