mayweather appreciation, he is the best

Floyd Mayweather is my favorite fighter, no doubt. Not even close. ive been a big fan since 1996. I do think he's the best fighter in the sport(although we'll have to see how the layoff affects him) but he is not pound for pound #1. To me P4P is a combination of skills, talent, and resume. Skills and talent are top notch but as far as resume goes Pac has overtaken him within Floyds layoff. Floyd did a lot but recently hasn't done a ton although I give him proper recognition for wrecking Hatton. Floyd is a better fighter IMO than Pacquiao, Mosley, Cotto, etc. but it's not enough to just think someone will beat those guys and think he is better. it must be proven to be considered P4P. I'm not saying he ducked anyone because I don't really think he has. He's just fought the guys for the most money and in his return he wanted a fight that will involve a big name even though he's smaller to shake the rust off. If he beats JMM and Pacquiao(or Cotto shall he win), which I truly hope and believe that he will, I will put him back up there #1, and I hope he will fight Mosley if Mosley hasn't lost by that time. The good
thing is that these fights can be made. I hate comparing sports but it's kind of like the guy you consider the best hitter in baseball. He may be the best but say he sits out the games where the top pitchers in the league are playing. I don't think you can consider him MVP at that point if he doesn't take on the best opposittion. Floyd is a special athlete, no doubt, but he must beat some of these guys. You can't just put him on a pedestal as #1 based on
performances from years ago. And that goes with any sport.
That is an excellent post. I will green k you, but I can't on my phone. The only thing I disagree about is if he has ducked fighters, but it's my opinion based on the resumes of his contemporaries.Comment

Pretty much summed up what I feel as well. Its good to see a Cotto fan show some respect... Floyd is beatable just like any fighter to be fair, Cotto, Mosley, Pacquiao, JMM obviously have there punchers chance and have a chance to beat them... I mean I think Floyd would win them all but all I am saying is they definitley have a shot and nobody is 100% unbeatable... but people are very hard to beat, like you said Floyd is a hard fighter to beat... a lot like Hopkins, who in all the fights he has lost his opponent never really did it convincingly.
Anyway, much respect for you for showing a bit of support and all...
I agree too.
Red K on its way by Fed-Ex. We're getting a little ahead of ourselves here.
I can lick my own balls, but not that much.
Floyd is an ATG. Arguably, the best at what he does in his generation.
But, I'd like to see him fight a few more of the top guys and win, then I believe his status will jump up a few notches to cement his greatness.
Ray Robinson and Ali are the greatest at the moment.

Mayweather is great and can choose to retire now with, according to him, nothing else to prove in the sport, and he may be right. He's done his thing, received his accolades, and made his money.
But he came back to regain his status (throne) as the P4P best, and has a 'Hit List' of fighters he wants to meet to prove his greatness.
I prefer to wait and see how he performs for a couple or a few more years
before I'm confident enough to call him the greatest.
Who knows? He may decide to stick around for five more years to really prove himself to his fans and critics.Comment
