And being on the cover of a magazine and having an article written about won't make people lay down 60 bucks(especially in the phillipines) to see Fanny fight either. That doesn't matter. Not one person is going to see that commercial and think "hmm, this guy had a 30 second commercial and didn't say one word. I think I'll lay down 60 bucks to watch his next fight."
Pacquiao on the other hand has a picture of him on the cover and an article about him. Being one of the world 100 most influential people IN THE WORLD always creates interest.
Boxers rarely get commercials as big as AT&T.
If this fight gets made Floyd will destroy lil Fanny Pac.Comment

AT&T thats because its US baby. PAc lived in the Philippines and Hes got something like 28 commercial endorsements as well. And being on the cover of a magazine and having an article written about won't make people lay down 60 bucks(especially in the phillipines) to see Fanny fight either.

How is AT&T compared to Nike?Comment

Believe it or not I dont believe you can gauge ones draw on PPV numbers alone. I just like to make a mockery of people who use them to justify thier favorite fighters draw in one situation then discredit them when someone uses them to defend a fighter they dont like.Let me explain to you how recession works in a troubled economy. And I mean worldwide.
It hits a record of around 70% on a global scale and your guess is right, Pac/Delahoya fight happened on that time.
Mayweather/Delahoya=2.4M buys. Fine.
Pac/Delahoya = 1.25M buys=ok
Now, factor out the recession lets say on just 50%. Pac/DLH should should translate 2.5M buys on an even economy. In recession, people left spendings at home, keep funds in the bank, less investment, cut down on expenses, and that includes PPV.
You think Mayweather is the draw? Really? Im very sad on that one.
He keeps on bragging He is the draw, yet we have been getting a lot of press releases as of late that his fight with JMM cant sell tickets. Remember, when theres smoke, theres fire. And i find it funny GBP is announcing they are moving the date of the fight to coincide with Mexican Independence day to capture the mexican audience. lol. If Mayweather is the draw as he keeps on bragging, why He needs the Mexican crowd to sell PPV? Dont you think?
Pac/Hatton, on a recession did 850buys against Mayweather's reported 925buys. Again, ON A RECESSION!
Pac is the current draw until he loses! Mayweather should be happy with 40% or at most 45% if they ever fight.
This is Pac's time. Deal with it.
I also agree with you on the recession point but only to a minium. I do believe it factored in but not as much as people say. Boxing is one of those events that people are more willing to pay to see. Since boxing is unpredictable and you never know when a fight may be a fighters last or when theyll fight again, even in todays economy people will still pay 55 bucks almost as quickly as they would 2 years ago.
Also, im not dis*****g PBF and JMM inability to sale tickets to their bout but please consider 2 things. 1 they announced the fight 2 months before the fight date. Most fights are announced 6 months ahead of time. And 2 JMM is not the most popular of fighters. He does not have a large fan base and has not fought on PPV much. Given enough time and marketing im sure this fight will do atleast nearly as good paq vs hatton.Comment

seriously, your one of the most delusional floyd fan here. all you post are ****** posts defending everything about floyd...And being on the cover of a magazine and having an article written about won't make people lay down 60 bucks(especially in the phillipines) to see Fanny fight either.
Boxers rarely get commercials as big as AT&T.
If this fight gets made Floyd will destroy lil Fanny Pac.
i dont recall any pacquiao fans mentioning floyd's AT&T and comparing it to pacquiao being one of the most influential people in time magazine..
ok, imagine this numb nuts. a few years from now, when a documentary of pacquiao or floyd is done, pacquiao's would sound like:
"Manny Pacquiao was at one point in his career named one of the most influential people in the world"
now this is what floyd's would sound like:
"Floyd Mayweather at one point in his career did a 30 second commercial for AT&T, the biggest phone company in the world"
i don't know why anyone would prefer the latter. that's my opinion
it's a ****ing commercial for some phone company and you jizz your pants about it.Comment

If being on the cover of the most prestigious magazine in the country, being one of the 100 most influnetial people IN THE WORLD, having a highlight reel KO in his last fight that was the talk of the sports world, and winning an ESPY all in the last 3 months doesn't make people want to watch him, WHAT THE HELL DOES?
And you're even more of an idiot for thinking Manny's fights are $60 ppvs in the Philippines, and that even if they were people wouldn't pay for it.Comment

LOL
And PBF is often seen with rappers and on mtv,mtv is on cable, cable costs money, people with cable have money, people with money buy ppvs.
See how ****** that **** sounds? I know people who live from check to check miss a good fight, no matter what the price. Its like your favorite singer coming to town, youll find some money to see it.Comment

Minimum? Mate, how many are potential PPV buyers of those millions who suddenly became jobless because of recession. Of course, we can just speculate since we dont have the numbers. But then, we can suspect there are percentages on that one, right? Anyway.Believe it or not I dont believe you can gauge ones draw on PPV numbers alone. I just like to make a mockery of people who use them to justify thier favorite fighters draw in one situation then discredit them when someone uses them to defend a fighter they dont like.

Now, announcing the fight on whatever time frame the promoter wanted to is not an issue IMO. If you are mainstream, you can sell fight. How does it differ when Pac/Cotto is announced on July and fight on November? will it affect the PPV buys? I dont think so. As you said, JMM has got no large fan base, but Cotto and PAc has.
Its boxing. People wants to see blood. Have you ever heard Tiger Woods walking out in a boxing match because its booring? Thats what Pac gives, excitement. Thats what sells. Talk with the fists, and not with the mouth.
Mayweather was great until his lightweight years, he brings excitements. Now, he is into business, he talks a lot, he markets a lot, he picks a lot.
Credit should be given where it is due.Comment

Mayweather is not often seen on MTV. People with cable don't necessarily have disposable income. Most people who read Time Magazine do have disposable income, and are older and grew up watching Leonard, Duran, Hagler, and Hearns. They generally have a sweet spot for boxing. The MTV crowd is more into reality shows and the UFC.
Like when Mayweather was schedule to fight Marquez in his hometown and the fight was canceled because of poor ticket sales?See how ****** that **** sounds? I know people who live from check to check miss a good fight, no matter what the price. Its like your favorite singer coming to town, youll find some money to see it.Comment
