Witter was calling him out before he was champion I believe, yeah.

In fact, Witter has been hounding him for a fight since like 2000, and it's not like the fans didn't or don't want it. Or it wouldn't be a better name on his resume than just about any of his wins bar one or two

you are right, he did call hatton out a long tme ago. you have to consider that witter couldnt sell out a raffle at the time and in the present day. hatton also hates witter, wasnt it because he tried stealing his thunder in an after fight interview or something? i dont remember. its not the main point tho, look at what witter has gone on to achieve and what hatton has achieved. big difference isnt there. every fighter could have fought somebody else, but as the records show, hatton has done alot more than witter was ever capable of.

yeah, this is all besides the point though. Obviously Hatton had the better career and IMO probably would have beat Witter. It doesn't excuse blatantly ducking him though... I'm not one of these people who scream "duck" for every fight that doesn't get made but there were plenty of perfect opportunities for this fight to happen and Hatton flat out refused to make it

Witter couldn't sell. okay. but put him in a ring with Hatton in a grudge match between two of the UK's best boxers and he'll sell! More than Hutchinson or Tackie anyway

Oh... but Hatton hated Witter??? God forbid he settle it in the ring then, like he would have had he an ounce of confidence in his ability to beat Junior

Ummmmm Maybe because KZoo was the champion and back then Cotto was only fighting on a Pacquiao undercard????

i see what you are saying. he hates him so there is 2 options, like you said he could settle it in the ring, but he also could hurt him in the pocket which he did. your right that it would sell in the uk because its a grudge match, but oly because its hatton. maybe now is as good a time as ever for this fight to happen. i think hatton should retire, but if he is going to come back, then why not against witter? but to say he ducked him is not right when hatton has fought the caliber of opposition that he has.

                    True

It was a bit of a Baldo/Judah situation but yeah you're right. Scratch the Maussa fight seeing as it was for a title and the recent Harris win, I'm being harsh

my point still stands though, especially for the 3 or 4 year period between the grudge with Witter being established and Hatton winning a world title

and even in the period between Tszyu and Mayweather there were opportunities, particularly after Witter got a world title of his own.

After/if Witter wins his belt back it's possible he finally gets to meet Ricky in the ring... that would be cool. I'd pick Witter to win now tbh, Hatton's punch resistance is shot to ****

I think Hatton will only fight Khan or Witter before retirement. (More likely Khan)
