We already know this story, he's waiting for a Calzaghe type of chance, see vulnerability in a current old champion in a couple year, beat them barely and claim ATG status after 2 fights and retirement. Both of his make name opponents WILL CERTAINLY be past their best, not able to finish an opponent in YEARS and old enough so they can't fight full 12 rounds.

Problem is that their ain't such an opponent out there at Super middleweight or would his claim to fame be a victory over Tarver/Johnson/Erdei or, god beware, Bernard Hopkins?

Only the interview to end out the article is a little outdated, since Sauerland has gone public saying that Abraham's career at 168 begins sunday.

So it's bye-bye Pavlik since a Pavlik fight is less interesting in the stacked SMW division.
I've read that elsewhere as well, which is why I specifically asked both Abraham and Sauerland.

Both responded on Wednesday afternoon Arthur's intention to stick around long enough to either secure a Pavlik fight or show the public that they've made every effort to make it before moving up to 168.

Could be a case of different quotes being offered to different en******, but like I said, mine are as recent as Wednesday afternoon.

Yes, I also asked Sauerland at the presser about the situation and it seems to me that, to some extend, it depends on Sylvester's outing vs. Simon.

If Sylvester wins (and wins clearly), Abraham is likely to vactate the belt to have his stablemate fight for it vs. Lorenzo in September/October...

What part of the guys killing himself to make 160 so he can fight Pavlik makes you refer to calzaghe.

              Thanks for clarifying.

Yes it could be a case of different quotes to different people. Still AA moving to 168 soon is plausible given the fact that he yet again had to shed some 17 lbs in a short timeframe.

It will be interesting to hear what AA has to say on the matter in the postfight interview. If he wins of course.

something tells me that he'll go up to 168 but part of him will feel as though he has unfinished buisness at 160 and he might try and come back down or try and reach 164 or something.

but yeah iv heard his camp say the same thing, on sunday hes a SMW.

personally i can't wait to see how he fares at SMW, at MW in his last few outing he has looked sluggish and lacklustre, his activity and output is not what it once was and imo this is down to the diffculties in making weight. the one time i saw him at 166 vs miranda he looked strong as hell and when he needed to he just put his foot on the pedal and got his man out of there

Can't wait to see more of Abraham, really hope Pavik-Abraham gets made at 160 cos that will be AA's toughest fight yet and should be Pavlik's toughest outing at MW since Taylor I. Plus there isn't really any other fight at MW that interests people all that much. Lets have that fight to crown a true MW champ at the end of the year then have Abraham move up to 168, there's plenty of goods fights up there for him.

                    AA fights

AA will defend his title tomorrow.

It's a shame he didn't face Pavlik or Sturm in MW, though. But both are ducking AA. Hope Pavlik steps up to 168, too, and they will meet there.

None of these cats are mentioning Pwill. The Punisher against Pavlik and Abraham are Great fights. Abraham has really only fought Miranda and a bunch of "C" rated fighters. Pwill vs Abraham would answer all questions about both fighters. Can Pwill deal with a world class boxer close to his size? Is Abraham really world class? The winner would have to be considered #1b in the MW division.
