Arthur Abraham – A King Learns To Cope With Patience

By Jake Donovan - It’s not the career path he had in mind when snatching a vacant middleweight belt late in 2005, a little more than just two years into his professional career.

Four years after the title-winning fifth round knockout of Kingsley Ikeke, “King” Arthur Abraham still remains an undefeated titlist awaiting the opportunity to advance to a worldwide boxing superstar. [details]

the fight with pavlik simply won't be made and i think we have bob arum to thank for that.

the rubio fight i could forgive but as soon as i saw the name of sergio mora linked to Pavlik i knew that pavliks team didn't want no part of the King. arthur has travelled beforehand, he came to the US to KO miranda so i don't think its the venue that will be a problem.

arthur himself would best be suited to moving up, his best fight that iv seen him in was the second miranda fight, it was fought at 166 and arhturs power and strength was obvious but what was also apparent was his workrate and activity. at 160 he doesn't have that same activity or vol of punches.

im surprirsed while reading the article that AA seems like a live-at-100pmh guy, he seems to take a very cold, methodical and measured approach in the ring.

This is well written & very true..
I think the fans are missing out on Abraham..
He's got fire in his belly & hell in his kitchen..
That's why they're all running scared..
And as you mentioned... Doesn't help, when Arum starts the 'poormans' George Carman thing... Hope things pick up for 'King' I certainly miss him...

AA needs Pavlik at 160, but not at 168. If the fight don't happen at 160, people know it ain't his fault. AA should just move on up to 168 and get in the mix. Plenty of good fights there.

          Good read.

Only the interview to end out the article is a little outdated, since Sauerland has gone public saying that Abraham's career at 168 begins sunday.

So it's bye-bye Pavlik since a Pavlik fight is less interesting in the stacked SMW division.

AA obviously has patience. He's patiently crushed cans for 4 years save for two fights against a single opponent who has since shown his true pedigree.

Let's review his opposition since being IBF titlist:

Taylor - bottom feeder from the IBF top15 rankings

Jantuah - midclass top15 jr. middleweight who carries a punch

Miranda - hard punching "The Ring" Top5 middleweight contender

Demers - young unproven Canadian out of the top10 IBF rankings (kinda comeback fight)

Gevor - borderline top10 middleweight in the world

El**** - "The Ring" Top10 middleweight contender coming of a win vs. Eastman

Ayala - midclass top15 jr. middleweight who draw with Mora in his fight before

Miranda - again, this time at a catchweight of 166 lbs

Marquez - "The Ring" Top10 middleweight contender beating Lorenzo in a final eliminator

Simon - unknown bottom feeder out of the IBF top15, worst opponent im terms of opposition fought

Oral - midclass middleweight out of the IBF top15 rankings, beat Spada some time ago who will challenge Zbik for the interim WBC belt in July

                ---------------
Seriously not all bums in regard to the low quality available at middleweight...
