It's like that Pacquiao right hook. He had barely learned it against Morales so he thought it would be really effective against Marquez in the rematch. But it ended up being more detrimental than beneficial. It wasnt until the 10th or 11th rd of that fight that the right actually started landing effectively.
Great post, and some nice points of your own there as well.

In a perfect scenario, Cotto would've been with Steward (or pretty much any real boxing trainer) from the get-go.

Evangelista doesn't really know an awful lot about the sport, and his stubborn and often confrontational style of training is a detriment to anybody who would train with him, IMO.

      But hey, who knows?

Steward ain't a bad choice, whether he rubs off on Miguel or not.

Because the guy Cotto was just with for the Clottey fight (can't recall his name righ tnow.) really didn't even improve Cotto one bit.

That was the same Cotto from the Margarito fight at times. And if he does that **** against Manny, I can only see it endly badly for him.

I dont remember his name either but he had always been 1 of Cotto's assistant trainers.

Dont think Cotto was expecting him to improve him at all. And i think it's kind of unfair to say that was the same Cotto against Margarito. Margarito pounded him into submission. Against Clottey he was simply weary of the fight getting stopped because of the cut. Emotionally and mentally he was all there the entire duration of that Clottey fight though.

No doubt the cut seriously effected him. (That was a bad one, did you see how ripped open it was by the time he did the post fight interview?)

But he still showed a bit of a stamina issue, and a tendency for going to the ropes too often.

Perhaps the cut played an even more significant role in that that I'm assuming, only time will tell.

One things for sure ; he can't afford to fight like that against Manny.

                    Not...but...

Cotto said that he is very happy with his new corner and he was very grateful to Steward for been interested in working with him, but that he ain't looking for any other changes in his corner "FOR THE MOMENT", he told a local newspaper (PR) that if his corner needs him (Manny Steward), they would bring him in for sure!!!!...let's hope that happens.

stamina disadvantage? are you nuts? he will weighed in just below a lb with his previous one while manny needs to up by not less than 3 lbs. If there is someone who has in stamina disadvantage it will be manny. cotto's a coward never wants to move a bit out of his comfort zone.
