Tehres money involved. Cotto understands this. There's alot more to boxing than just what goes on in the ring. If there were bigger names and $$$ at 140, then Manny would stay there.

Cotto also wouldnt lose a lb if he could fight a true welterweight for the same amount of money. Boxing fans have a hard time looking at the bigger picture.

Marquez and Floyd are also trying to make $$$$$. Meeting in the middle is what happens.

I agree with this than the "cotto is shot after margarito" reasoning.

I think Pacquiao shouldnt allow Cotto to weigh in more than 149 on fight night, If he did that then i wouldnt blame him.

Like you said, 141 wouldnt have made a difference. Just a few days ago there were cotto fans arguing to death that 144 was going to kill Cotto, they said he didnt have the training regiment that rivals Benard Hopkins to pull off losing 3lbs.

Either way, the point is moot. 145 isnt killing Cotto and roach isnt trying to weight drain anyone, just make the fight fair.
If making the fight at 145 isnt an attempt to drain cotto, whats the point of it, because it isnt going to stop cotto coming in at near 160 on fight night.

So if roach isnt attempting to gain an advantage by draining cotto, why wont he settle for 147, which is where pac fought oscar?

They could just make it for a fight and not any titles. That's up to them.

See, thats the solution to the problem, to make sure that cotto doesnt re hydrate over a certain weight, obviously cotto would say no and the fight would be off, but thats the real solution.

Cotto is quoted as saying that he will put on 8 to 10 pounds on by fight night, so if the fight is at 145 then he will be 153 to 155 by fight night. If he says this then i dont see any reason not to believe him. Pac i guess will be 147 - 150 maybe. Yeah so it could easily be a 8 pound advantage to cotto. On the other hand cotto im sure gave up a few pounds to clottley and probably cheato as well, so thats what happens in boxing, you get an advantage here and lose it there. I dont think weight will decide this fight anyway

If roach really wanted to weight drain, He'd have Cotto come in at 140, not 145. He knows 145 isnt going to kill Cotto, but every other genius thinks it will. 140 I think would be pushing Cotto, but not 145. So far, Roach and Manny are letting Cotto have the advantage. So why should Cotto fans be complaining about meeting in the middle? especially since Cotto has the advantage at the weigh in and fight night.
