A Look at Wladimir Klitschko, and The Heavyweights

By Joe Harrison - We are at the halfway point of 2009, and finally we have someone who can be regarded as the Heavyweight Champion. On June 20th, Wladimir Klitschko battered Ruslan Chagaev for nine rounds, earning the 10th-round TKO in front of 61,000 fans at the Veltins Arena soccer stadium in Germany. With the victory, not only did Klitschko retain his IBF, WBO, and IBO titles, but he also claimed the vacant Ring Magazine heavyweight belt. [details]

    Klitchko is boring!

yes, wlad won the slapping around the little fat guy. He has all the physical advantages that most fighters would give their left
testy for. Never once taking a chance , jab, jab, jab, one, two.
Never a glimps of excitment. Come on big fellow ,please just put him away already. Without his advantages he would be a mediocre
fighter at best. I am an avide fight fan ,i love the sport. I'll never miss a fight if at all possable. I turned this one off. Where the hell is lennox when we need him.even in a weight division as
weak and shallow as it is ,our champion is an oversized
chicken**** that won't even take a chance and look like we'll
get some action. Please go away dr.klit.

Honestly, Wladimir puts me to sleep; he has defeated his last five opponents or so with such ease that he could have fought them all in six months and not be fatigued at all.

Valuev, Haye, Arreola should be next on the hitlist. That Russian bigfoot would probably decline. Damn you Haye and your injury!

Wlad Klit is poop! In either the 4th or 5th round (I can't remember since I started nodding off), WK had Ruslan trapped in a corner for over one minute and he didn't even throw ONE right hand. Not one, just that ****** pawing jab over and over. Any good heavyweight would have teed off on him right then and there, even a 46 year old Holyfield or good ol' Mike Tyson would have TRIED to tee off. What did Wlad do, he just let him out of the corner. I hope David Haye would have fought him and knocked him out. I am not huge fan of Haye's mouth but a Haye KO would have brought some excitement into this division and win or lose, he would have made Wlad fight for once....

this is the weakest heavyweight division EVER! If Kali meehan, john ruiz(who had a great run in the 90s),maskaev(see ruiz comment),chagaev, boytsov, dimitrenko, chambers, peter ...look at that list.we don't even know how good haye really is.arreola & povetkin are the only 2 I really consider solid threats, but haye could be too but we all haven't seen enough of him...this is alot worse than the early 80s even.those guys then all fought each other regularily. As did the best of the90s.now all you have to do is win a couple fights against any lesser fighter in Europe & you are in line.it's a joke.I still watch these fights but I bet James"bonecrusher"smith would be a threat to the undisputed title...LOL! That's how bad it is & I'm a heavyweight boxing junkie & really don't care about any other weight class.I'm miss those bowe/Holyfield wars,Tyson & lewis,Rahman, tua, moorer, maskaev, even early ruiz.man does this era suck ass!

I always wondered why eastern European up & comers with fat bloated records like chagaev, boytsov, dimitrenko never fight each other in eliminators to get in line? Boytsov vs dimitrenko or chagaev vs ibragimov, povetkin vs dimitrenko, etc. I know why because they are afraid to tarnish their records vs stiff competition.no wonder brewster, meehan, ruiz, mccall,jc gomez fight in Europe.all you have to do is beat samil Sam & 42 year old mccall to get a title, maskaev beat Robert Hawkins & boruff? I'm easy on maskaev because he fought solid guys in the 90s.go to Germany, turkey,England beat a couple Midcard club fighters & your in line.it's a shame that a world title means nothing anymore it's just a trinkate to wear for photographs.too many protected fighters over in Europe.look at a guy like rahman resume until the last couple years look at his line of guys he fought win or lose.90% tough opponents, not club fighters, contenders & threats.I'm talking before maskaev 2.that's what a real contender fights like.

                    This is a good article.

I'm very much enjoying the heavyweight division right now, with my favorite fighters on top!
