What's more acceptable? Manny vs Cotto @ 145 OR Floyd vs JMM @ 144?

Absolutely, because it would be the smaller man fighting a man thought of as a bigger guy at a weight only 2 or 3 lbs shy of where he normally fights.

The other scenario is a man thought of as the bigger guy forcing a smaller guy to jump up an entire weight class to a weight that he has never fought at and the bigger guy has so many advantages (size, speed, youth) over the smaller guy.

Cotto and Pac are both young, fast, strong- a much better matchup IMO

I don't know why, but I've always been more interested in a Floyd-Marquez fight than a Pacquiao-Cotto fight. And seeing Cotto's stock go down after barely beating Clottey makes it that way even more so now. I'm a bigger fan of JMM than Cotto though, so it's just personal preference. JMM came off of an impressive knockout of Juan Diaz, and impressive performances should be rewarded, not mediocre ones. And I don't view Clottey as that much better than Juan Diaz on a P4P basis. They both are durable with not that much punching power. The only thing you can take away from JMM's victory over Diaz is the fact that Nate Campell had already beaten him. But it's not JMM's fault that Nate missed weight at 135. Nacho even said the fight would happen, provided JMM was victorious over Juan Diaz. I don't have a link, but there was a story about it here on BScene.
