    DRAINED BS is OVERRated

Majority of people here probably didnt know that this is not the 1st time this is gonna happen ( Pac-Cotto ).

    1st pt. It happened before

on Sep 18, 2004 Bernard Hopkins then the undisputed MW champion agreed to defend his 160 lbs belt againts Oscar DelaHoya @156lbs. Thats 4 lbs below the middleweight limit of 160 and just 2lbs above the weight limit of 154.

If Cotto-Pac will be made at 144. That will be 4 lbs above the Jr welterweight limit of 140 and just 3 lbs below the limit for Welterweight.

    2nd pt.

Its not Pacquiao's Fault that ODLH hired the wrong people. Its not in the contract that DLH should only be 147 at fight night. DLH's team f_u_c_k up their job so does that make this a valid excuse? Pac still manhandle him drained or not.

156 lbs 40 yr old Hopkins a natural LightHEAVYWEIGHT took care of business. DLH did not its a legit loss for him.

DLH is 154 lber, hadn't been that weight in over 10 years. I think he did some unsafe things to make weight, Mayweather referenced to it during a press conference but didnt say exactly what. Hatton gave Pacman more problems than DLH did, that's how you know something was wrong. But I think Pac would win @154 as well against DLH.

Catchweights have been around for over 100 years, but they do seem to be more prevalent in big fights lately. The late 80s and early 90s had a few (Leonard-Lalonde, Leonard-Hearns 2, Whitaker-Chavez, Norris-Taylor) but I don't recall it being as frequent as it has in the past few years.

Every fighter is different in terms of being drained, weight cutting, etc...

It remains to be seen how Cotto is at this point at 144-145. Hopefully he'll be fine physically.

If Pac doesn't fight Cotto at 147 I wouldn't give him FULL credit if he beat Cotto.

And still I think Cotto is too big for Pac and if he isn't unhealthy come fight night he will possibly KO Pac...

I agree something is wrong with a DLH weighing just 147. But whose fault is that? That's an extreme case. Cotto at 144 will be as lethal as cotto at 145 if he prepared correctly and doesnt eat Kangaroo Meat. Heck he is just 145 2 fights ago and at 146 againts Clottey. Hopkins went down 4 lbs againts DLH. Cotto will go just 3 lbs below 147 and hes even 146 in his last fight. damn i keep repeating myself lol.

He was 145 just 2 fights ago. Will that 1 pound made a difference if he prepared properly and doesnt eat kangaroo meat?

What fight were you watching? ODLH stayed around for 8 rounds. Hatton was snoring in two.

Cotto has been 146 and up ever since he moved to welterweight two and a half years ago. If the fight is @ 144 that's 2 extra lbs to cut. It doesn't sound like much but he's already cutting weight to begin with and has looked weak at weigh-ins even at welterweight so maybe it is. I don't know and we'll have to wait and see.

The contracted weight for Hopkins-De La Hoya was 158.

Hopkins came in two lbs. below that at 156, saying he could catch DLH because he was "light in the ass".

Hopkins sure has great discipline in the gym and dinner table.
