I think the second fight with Morales was a catch weight too.
The first fight was at 130, the rematch was at 130 too, the WBC's International superfeatherweight title was on the line. There was a clause that in case of a rubber match, it will be at 130 too. Erik asked for a catchweight for the rubber match, which meant. more than 130 lbs., Team Pacquiao didn't budged and demanded Morales to follow the clause to the letter...
lmfao! i would be surprise if cotto lasts 2 rounds. coz Pac would be ready to go right there and then. Pac is so small he can fight right after the 147 weigh in. lol
I couldn't care less and I'm sure Freddie wouldn't care either if Cotto outweighs Manny by a million pounds on a same day weigh-in come fight time. No bs catchweight, a true welterweight fight is going to happen on a same day weigh-in...
uncle benny i've been arguing with everybody about this.
they think a catchweight is everytime fighters agree to fight at weight higher or lower than their own.
to me catchweight is a limit in between weight divisions.
if the fight is at 147 , it's a welterweight fight. just because 1 moved up to 147 and the other moved down to 147 doesn't mean it's a catchweight.
it just means one moved down to welterweight and the other moved up to welterweight.
thats only cause everyone thinks that if you fight at 145 it's not welterweight but welterweight weight is 141-147 so technically it still a WW fight it not like he's asking cotto to fight at 140 and kill cotto weight mangement. cotto was perfectly fine making 146...why not an extra pound?
by the way duran is from a different era than ours. so you can't compare him to pacman
