Clottey won but no too many people will cry about it because he doesn't have as many fans. If Clottey were already a superstar in the sport and got a decision like that people would be screaming bloody murder. Popularity makes bad decisions easier to swallow for people in general.

well in that case Cotto scored a grandslam in the first and how about the 6th round? he had clottey on the ropes for like 2 minutes and alot of punches got through those gloves..

Reminds me of Dawson/Johnson. You can make arguement for Cotto winning a close fight but not by such a massive margin

On April 20th, it was reported that Clottey had been stripped of his IBF Welterweight Title, for failing to fight Isaac Hlatshwayo, his mandatory challenger. Clottey blamed Cotto for failing to file the proper paperwork with the IBF in the allowed time, which could have allowed the fight to be a unification bout.

clottey should be champ too(real champ no michael jennings wbo belt) but it's cotto's fault. so you are gonna punish clottey cause cotto screwed him?

punchstats dont always tell the story of a fight lets say theres a 4 round fight just to make the example easier to u and in the first round u outland me 50 to 10. then in the next 3 rounds i outland u 10 to 5 . your still going to have more punches landedby compubox 65 40 but i won rounds 2 3 and 4 so thats how it is. in boxing you score by rounds not by compubox numbers and thats kind of what happened in that fight with cotto vs clottey

naw you just have to beat him. Once the bell rigs your on even terms. You are fighting for the same thing witch is a title and both fighters have a equal right to it. They only say you have to beat the champ convincingly when the challenger is an unknown or less popular. Nobody told Mayweather that he had to beat JLC convincingly when he came up and fought for his title. He was the young popular fighter. All he had to do was win more rounds whether it was one more round or six more it didn't matter as long as he won. It can't be both ways.

This post is ridicilous, Joshua Clottey SCREWED himself. You got Cotto with a devastating gash above his eye in the 3rd round, and you cant manage to dominate him the rest of the fight....If anything it was 104-104 going into the 12th round that cotto won...IF ANYTHING!!!!!!
