I totally agree. He needs a real trainer bad, because he and his team refuse to learn from their mistakes.
I was there man. Screaming "get off the ****ing ropes have you learned nothing?" haha. It's really frustrating cause he's got so much potential.Comment

I can undestand the fact that Cotto has gone to hell and back in a lot of wars, and that can cut the life span of his career. For starters I put Cotto as a future hall of famer not because I believe he is the ATG fighter but rather his heart and will to give a great fight against adversity and taking on guys that others refuse to give them a break. He has entertained and proved a lot, for him been shot in a short term of time I see it break down in two parts for it to be posible.
A. The Clottey fight. He fought a great worrior and won the desicion. But this fight I believe could become the confidence builder that Cotto needed, to feel that he can go to hell and back and emerge victorious, if he can see thru that this fight could be the milestone he needs to keep on going for 3-5 years more. If he sits down and think about the damage he took and concentrate on that... he will last 2-3 more fights.
B. He needs a better corner and a trainer with not just the elite status but someone that can take his advantages and sharpen them up and take his weakneses and meke them stronger.
If Cotto, IMHO, does this he could have a couple more gas in the tank, but this moment right know is crucial for his career, to further improve from a top WW to posible P4P and further solidify his legacy in boxing.Comment

His corner told him to get off of the ropes though. Sometimes you can't change fighters. He's been doing it since his amatuer days.Comment

No he's been in wars but unlike Vargas he always comes out on top except for Plasterito and we know why. You can judge how Cotto's looked after Plasterito because of the Clottey fight, Clottey is a tough dude and fighting with two eyes is hard enough with one eye is damn near imposible. Cotto demostrated that he can adapt and overcome. If Floyd 3000 grows some balls and fights him you will see how far from shot Cotto really is.Aftrer that beating at the hands of Plasterito he hasnt looked the same....
Cotto is a great fighter but these wars with Torres...Corley...Judah...Mosley...Clottey and Margarito are taking their toll....
I dont want to see Cotto end up like Vargas and Jermain Taylor but its destined to happen IMO.....
And Cotto has fights looming with guys like Berto...Mosley..Margarito....Mayweather...Clottey II and Williams...oh and Pacman.
.......
Cotto has shown he has balls of steel.....but unfourtantely that will lead to a shortened career non the less hes still a hall of famer and one of the best PRicans of all time.
Do you agree that he will be a shot fighter soon due to these wars???Comment

Homie take it easy. Vargas fought dudes much better than Cotto. No he's been in wars but unlike Vargas he always comes out on top except for Plasterito and we know why. good post, not sold on the new trainer stuff, I guess it depends on who it is and what he brings, but mostly agree..........I can undestand the fact that Cotto has gone to hell and back in a lot of wars, and that can cut the life span of his career. Good to hear you have uncovered this one.All along we all thought that Evangelista Cotto was present when Margarito was having his hands wrapped. How ****** of him to allow Margarito to load his gloves with plaster damnCotto was fighting Margarito at a disadvantage. Margarito had illegal plaster substance on his hands. As far as Clottey, Cotto was fighting with a bad gash on his eyebrow and couldn't see the punches. Of course he's not gonna look good on both occasions. People seem to reacts like it's the end of the world for Cotto. Cotto is a beast with swagger when he fights with no disadvantages.Comment

Cotto beat Mosley who disfigured Vargas face and beat the **** out of him twice. That's the perception people always have of whatever current generation fighters that they are not as good as previous fighters. You can't say Cotto is not as good as those guys he never fought any of them except for Mosley and he clearly beat him.Comment
