The demise of Miguel are greatly over exaggerated.

He certainly has several good years in him. I say he's got 4, maybe 5 years as an elite. His main issue is the lack of a suitable corner, which I think he's realized. He's tough, strong and resilient.

I agree that he's missing that 'swag'. He certainly had the look of some doubt in the mid-rounds of the Clottey fight, but he seemed to overcome it and digged deep down against an upper-echelon fighter. When it's time to revisit history, we'll point to this fight and say this is when he turned the corner.

He'll get that Margarito fight and he will win it and it will be bigger than if he beats Pacquaio. If Cotto was shot, his boxing ability in the championship rounds would have been non-existent. Clottey couldn't touch him to save his life or chance at stardom.

I'd say Cotto is almost all the way back

I could actually see him doing what Barrera did...I mean a lot of people wrote Barrera off after the junior jones loses. He totally reinvented himself, learned how to box more, and adopted a different style and gave himself another few years a relevance.

Cotto COULD do the same thing, he has that kind of versatility. Will he? Remains to be seen.
Is he? He's pushing 30 now and new tricks are harder. ok 28 is not exactly 30 but he not kid. i never saw cotto fighting backwards in an effective way or even countering effectively. cotto works like this, if he's stronger than you he will push the fight, if he's not, he's in trouble. the problem is he gets hurt allot too, pushing the fight or otherwise. cuts, being rocked or even down, cotto experiences those in nearly ALL his fights. if that's not a sign for you i don't know what is. look more another sack fanboys, if cotto don't land pacquiao at 147 or the old mosley rematch he's losing his next fight.

Even if hes the next Vargas,

he'll be remembered as a warrior.

No shame in that if one is in combat sports.

Apparently you just don't watch too many Cotto fights.

He's not great at fighting backwards but he's decent at it. Problem is he relies too much on it when he's not great at it. He can improve that cause he's not horrible at it.

He counters very effectively, Cotto's a great counter puncher I don't know what the **** you're talking about.

And you're greatly exaggerating how often he gets hurt. He was beaten down by Margarito, was never dazed just beat down. He was stunned by a Judah uppercut, and that's it at 147. You're acting like he has a glass jaw which is just simply not true.

Cotto has the boxing skills to become a boxer....he's just not there yet. Hence he is CAPABLE of reinventing himself, I just don't know if he will.

Cotto looks fine to me. Clottey is a tough fight for ANYONE @ WW and he edged out the decision with one eye

he could see out of that eye man. the cut was well above his eyebrow and there was not much blood running down to his eye. he was hit more to that side because clottey was looking to aggravate the injury, not because he couldn't see the punches coming at all.
