I have a few theories as to why a fight as big as this was not sold out or damn near close;

Mayweather has taken his success for granted; ****ily thinking he is a household name, still after his retirement, even placing himself above Oscar De La Hoya in PPV buys.

• Because of his hiatus, it has given way for other fighters such as Manny Pacquiao to easily take his place as the number one fighter, giving us three exciting fights while Mayweather spent his time throwing money around.

What happened to the biggest draw in boxing? Don't get me wrong, we shouldn't put this all on Mayweather Jr., because as of now I think we can all agree that Juan Manuel Marquez is the face of Mexican boxing, but then again don't take Mexican boxing fans for granted, they could see this as a slaughter and not bother with attending the fight. 50/50 for who the bigger draw is.

How can he save his "name" and preserve this supposed legacy of his? Pull a fake injury.

• The general public sees this fight as a mismatch; JMM too small, Mayweather once again cherry picking smaller opponents.

- Mayweather comes from as low as the super feather weight division, he just moved up sooner.
- JMM has had NO fights above 140lbs, thus throwing himself in the lions den, risking it all for a shot at Money May.

To be clear on the subject, I enjoy watching both fighters respectively, because of their craft in this sweet science, but I'm sure many have probably already come to this conclusion; Mayweather has lost his luster and now must work his way back up.

Mayweather needs to face the verdict, he is now a welterweight and should fight legitimate welterweights such as Shane Mosley or Miguel Cotto.

you all have to look at the fact that the fight was announced way too early. i was shocked when i heard it was a go for july 18th on the announcement date of may 2. that only gave 2 months of hyping up and promotion(which lacked much of as it is.)
