Wladimir Klitschko Says Heavyweight Division is Not Dead

WBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko says the heavyweight division may be under fire from boxing fans in America, but the entire weight class is thriving in Europe. A sell-out crowd of 60,000 are expected at the FC Schalke football stadium in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on Saturday as Klitschko defends his titles against undefeated Ruslan Chagaev. [details]

Wlad and vitali should retire, and let the younger guy's reign.

i second your comment. them retireing is completely ******. they define the heavy weight division. i personally think the heavy weight division is not near as popular as once was but its not dead.

I laugh at the ignorant inferior Americans who complain about the heavyweight division. They're jealous and hate the fact that Eastern Europeans are dominating.

All of the top American heavyweights have been defeated by superior Eastern European heavyweights.

Like Wlad said, the heavyweight division is thriving in Europe.

Wlad/Chagaev is a HUGE fight and there is a lot of excitement in Europe. Wlad is the dominant unified IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champ and Chagaev is the undefeated WBA heavyweight champ. The winner will become the RING Undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world....I'm pumped for this fight!!!

Wlad could be such a global super star if he was exciting. He has absolutly everything else to make a star. Instead he's big in Germany and semi-popular in the surrounding countries, and practically unknown everywhere else. He looks good, he's funny, he's smart. It's just most people fall asleep before he jabs his opponent to sleep.

Jealous? Yea right. Wlad had his chance to impress the US when he fought Ibragimov in MSG. Instead of disposing of him easily, he pawed at him all night long like a playful kitten.

The US would accept a Drago-like fighter. Wlad's not that. He has the look of Drago, but not the style.

The heavyweight division is dead. If he doesn't fight his brother, then there can never really be a super fight in the heavyweight division. Which means, its dead because no one is interested besides Ukranians.

Seeing the headline. Vitali vs Wlad, would put a hell of a lot more asses in seats and in front of TVs than any other match up in the HW division.
