  • rudy salud needs to get off of manny's sack and go back to being a commish
of Filipino basketball, manny NEEDS to fight miguel at 147 if he wants the belt, everyone around him says hes lb for lb best , prove it and beat someone in their prime , not washed up overrated fighters like olden boy or English wankers like fatton, now all of a sudden hes the best since sugar ray, gtfoh with ****,wait til he gets in there with cotto , i know cotto doesnt have the best D either but cotto will expose that weak ass defense that manny has, timing beats speed !!

    • Sick of this catchweight ****. We already have 612 weight divisions, if your fighting for a Welterweight title, fight at the WW limit. If you're a lightweight and don't think you can fight a 147 pound fighter at 147 pounds then you have no business fighting them!

yeah, but if cotto wasn't a *****, he'd say "fight me at 147 or go to hell".
who says mp has to take this fight
who says cotto has to agree to a catchweight? you act like cotto can't refuse.

wrong even you didt belive what you just wrote. cotto is not chasing mp
I guess that's why he called out pac before the clottey fight and said he could fight pac at 145 lbs? why didn't cotto say straight up, i'm the WW champ and if you wanna fight me, do it at 147 lbs???

as a matter fact mp and his camp are the one's that are chase cotto calling him a walk in the park.
only an idiot would say that. the only one on pac's team that you should be paying attention to is pac himself and roach.

mp is the one that wants this fight cotto could care less.
if cotto could care less, then he will refuse to fight under 147 lbs.

i agree their should be a catchweight but not 142-144 but 145 is fair in my eyes
hell no!!! pac officially weighed 138 lbs in his last fight. cotto officially weighed 146 lbs against clottey. that's a 8 lbs advantage for cotto. on fight night it will be a 8-10 lbs advantage. you're sick in the head if you think that's fair.

Oh, please stop with the self serving propaganda... Do you PBF nutsack lickers get all your talking points from PBF himself???? Yeah, I saw the B. Kenny interview too when PBF said someone that hasnt laced up gloves could never understand the sport....

FYI, Pac went up to 142 for DLH then to 138 for Hatton... He went up then LOST weight for his next fight so Cotto cant do the same???

Oh ok, so its ok for PAC to fluctuate 17 pounds in four consecutive fights, going up and down in only about a year but its a total disadvantage for Cotto to lose a mere 3 pounds in one fight??? Bro, you make double standards sound fair...

Funny, as if Pac is desperately calling out all these welterwights ... If I didnt know better, I could have sworn it was welterweights calling him out... AT the very least, he is willing to fight the Cottos and Mosleys of the world and they in turn want to fight PAC as well... But hey, why is PAC obligated to go further and further up in weight and meet them where they are confortable... Where's the fairness in that??? At least he's willing to meet them half way...

And, please, walking zombies???? Is it Pac's fault that COTTO's "rehydrated" weight is somewhere north of 160??? If Cotto and so called WELTERWEIGHTS want to fight at 160 something why dont they go fight middleweights????

          • Is this really happenin?

I dont even want to see this fight half as much as mayweather and manny but cottos good for the mean time. I also think that the catch wieght really isnt that big a deal, they just want to control how much heavier he will come in @ fight night.

            • 144 would be fair. Pacquiao going up 4 pounds, cotto with his weigh in of 146 vs clottey going down 2 pounds. I dont see why all yall got your panties in a bunch.

It would be Pacquiao's 5th straight fight in a different weight. cotto is a career 140 pounder. He's just finishing up at 147. He has like 25+ fights at 140. Pacquiao has 1 fight at 135,140, & 147.

144 is more than fair. 145 would be nothing to cotto since he weighed in at 146.

              • Let's just have Mosley V Cotto, Pac V JMM, people fighting there own size fighters. Mayweather can just duck back into retirement as I doubt he'd take the winner of the Cotto Mosley re match.

As Cliff Rold points out in a separate article, fighting any version of Cotto that is less than 100% would be a completely meaningless fight from a sporting point of view. If Pac doesn't think he can beat a Welterweight who isn't handicapped, he should stay at Jnr Welterweight. Otherwise it's just a circus act and not a legacy fight.

And as Cliff also points out, the greats from past eras with whom Pac is frequently compared didn't fight at catchweight, they beat fighters from higher divisions while giving away much larger weight differences. Henry Armstrong weighed 133lb when he won the undisputed Welterweight title, and Sugar Ray Robinson weighed in as a Middleweight when he nearly won the Light Heavyweight title.
