And Manny Pacquiao is not a throw back fighter to me at all. The old timers at least fought 4 or 5 fights in each division they were champion in and they didn't go searching for gold at the end of the rainbow. I'm absolutely boycotting this fight if it happens. At least JMM fought a couple of top guys at 135 before he went for a big money fight.

manny attacks Cotto and catches him with a big left, boom another quick combination, Cotto backs into the ropes, avoids a big left from Pac, Cotto returns to the center of the ring, Pac edges closer, and THUD!!!! Pac is down from a stiff jab while throwing another left hayemaker. Pac is up by the count of 3, ref completes the standing 8, Pac ****s his gloves...Cotto stalks, Pac no longer darting in for the big Left, instead he begins circling the ring... Cotto closing in, misses a left hook to the body, hits Pac's arm, Manny running, raises his hands, comes back to the center of the ring looking to unleas a flurry on Cotto, THUD!!!! Pac is down again from a stiff jab while throwing a left hook.

Honestly, I think Pacquiao should fight Cotto at 147. It would be a tough fight, but victory would be very realistic. Cotto has shown that he vulnerable and has semi-porous defense. Pac is very fast and appears to still have decent power @ 147. I think his speed would trouble Cotto a lot. Pac should go for it. Boxing is about fighting the best, taking challenges. Guys like Alexis Arguello have stepped up in weight and lost, but we still have great respect for them. And personally, I think Pacquiao can beat Cotto at 147. Who cares if Pacquiao is the draw? I wish more boxers would fight for the love of the sport, not money. Pac doesn't need another penny. Of course Pac can get other big fights, but if that's the case, he shouldn't be requesting Cotto to weight drain, he shouldnt even mention the fight.
As you can see from my avatar, I like Money May, but I wish he had more willingness to fight the best, regardless of weight.Last edited by rmz; 06-15-2009, 10:42 PM.

And Arum has made clear that Clottey will get a rematch down the line. If the Pac fight falls through, one or other rematch would probably happen sooner rather than later, but obviously the Pac fight would take precedence over both of them.Last edited by Dave Rado; 06-15-2009, 10:50 PM.

[QUOTE=Pullcounter;5502383]cotto is a ***** for picking on a guy that officially weighed in at 138 lbs in his last fight.
cotto is not a ***** he is not imposing a bs catchweight
[QUOTE=Pullcounter what's BS is that cotto is a middleweight on fight night and pac is a welterweight.
who says mp has to take this fight
[QUOTE=Pullcounter yeah, but you gotta remember cotto is the one begging for this fight. he can walk away from the contract. nobody is forcing him to sign.
wrong even you didt belive what you just wrote. cotto is not chasing mp as a matter fact mp and his camp are the one's that are chase cotto calling him a walk in the park.mp is the one that wants this fight cotto could care less.
[QUOTE=Pullcounter exactly, that's why cotto has to fight at a catchweight to level the playing field.
i agree their should be a catchweight but not 142-144 but 145 is fair in my eyes

Salud statments are based on his personal intrest in Pacman truth be told Cotto may be to strong for Pac he stays in the first half of the fight by use of footwork and handspeed after being trapped and pounded to the body and set up fight ends inside of 10.

Dang! I wish Team Pac would just fight at 147. By forcing a bigger opponent to shrink down excessively, stipulating a catch weight is essentially cheating in my books (and I'm a Manny fan). A P4P king should go up and challenge bigger guys. Especially in this case because a *147* belt is up for grabs.
But all this would be academic if the sport brought back same evening weigh-ins (2 hrs prior to the fight). Then fighters would be forced to complete at closer to their natural body weights or risk killing their stamina and power in the ring. No longer would you have Cotto making weight at 147 then ballooning back up to 160 for the fight. He would have to campaign at JMW or even MW.
