He deserves one, but he won't get it right away.
Does Clottey deserves an IMMEDIATE rematch?

Give this guy some greenClottey deserves a rematch but he is too dangerous to fight. If i'm cotto i rather fight margarito, mosley, pacman or floyd before i fight clottey again. why do you think floyd, pacman, mosley, hopkins, paul williams have not fought Clottey.....Please give me an honest answer.Comment

who is saying Cotto wont give him a rematch?Exactly. If you ever see Floyd in a close fight be rest assured he will give you a rematch. But in saturdays fight the only one getting physically beat up all over the place was cotto. I had Clottey winning 115-112 based on clean punching, ring generalship, effective aggression, damage, and ebb and flow. Clottey won the fight in each of those categories, and Cotto shoe shining at the end of rounds didn't do it for me. He should man up and give the Ghanaian an immediate rematch on neutral turf, because that 116-111 shows you that something was up, along with the judges delaying the card tally by 5 minutes.
cotto hasn't even said anything on the matter.
the rematch will come, i guarantee you it.. just maybe not right away.
and if cotto beats pacquiao (if the fight goes off) i'm sure it will
and clottey wins a title.. the rematch will be even bigger.
anyway, I don't know what fight you where watching because I had it tied with
the knock down being the determining factor.
clottey didn't do enough to win, matter of fact he let rounds slip away by barely doin anything. & only reason Cotto looked the way he did is because Clottey's cheating ass
doesn't know how to go through a fight without headbutting.Comment

We'll see I highly doubt it. Pacquiao was calling the initial 50-50 with Hatton an insult, even though Hatton at the time was the second biggest draw in boxing behind ODLH. Also there will be less money on the table for this fight than Pacquiao vs Hatton and they each made 12 million for that fight.Comment

Perfect answer ! Clottey had a guy that he could've finished and could not finish him off. What do you think the result would've been if cotto did not get cut?I am not a Cotto fan (although I respect and appreciate him a great deal) and yet I don't really care to see a rematch. Clottey had his chance and let it slip through his hands. He had a guy who was a sucker for right hands because of a cut and he didn't capitalize. He had a guy who looked to be in a dire state and did little to do anything about. Finally, he had a close fight in his hands and chose not to finish strong.
for that he doesn't deserve to stay at that level. Let him fight some other guys and earn his way back. Cotto has bigger fish to fryComment

It was a good fight and I'd certainly like to see a rematch because it'd be a close fight either way virtually every time they fought. Cotto is having his Oscar (Quartey-Trinidad) moment right now getting Pacquiao. Bigger fight on the horizon so it's happening.Comment

Quartey was a bigger star than Cotto and Clottey. Please don't compare them to him.Comment

I mean, that's Boxing for you. The game is to get the highest reward and fight the best guys while doing it. Cotto's proven time and time again he'll fight the best guys at 147 win or lose. Clottey, though a really good fighter, doesn't have the makings of being a Superstar or an elite fighter. He had an opprotunity to take Cotto to the deep end but decided not to take advantage, so is Cotto to blame for that...or should he take a rematch because of what Clottey didn't do the 1st time or if you're in Cotto's shoes do you presumably fight the #1 fighter in the world?
I know Cotto's gonna catch a lot of heat (or so I think) for taking a fight with Pacquiao, but you gotta think too that Manny's camp are looking at Cotto possibly in a different light seeing that there are visible vulnerabilities in Cotto that Pacquiao may be able to expose even more with his speed.
I'm a big Cotto supporter and though this past weekend showed me he's still one of the best in the business and over-looking the bad cut early in the fight, the possibility of Pacquiao beating Cotto isn't really a far stretch...AT ALL.Last edited by Ravishing; 06-15-2009, 01:49 PM.Comment
