I'm not convinced Cotto won

Any one who knows boxing will tell you that landing 43 more punches equals a 118-110 victory. Shame he didn't land another 12 extra, or it would've been a shut out.
I dunno what the fuck was up with Lederman's card. Why was he scoring the fight round by round? Crazy bastardComment

Spot on.

Personally I always score the fight by who looks owned the most at the end of the fight.Comment

116-111 was kinda exaggerated. BUT!!!
Here's the thing, Cotto WAS the defending champion, after the cut(which was a REALLy bad cut btw) he changed tactics yet continued fighting when he didn't have to. He could have simply said he couldn't continue and it would have gone to the cards and Cotto would have won there and then.
Now, BECAUSE he decided to continue fighting 'till the end the judges will give him a plus just for that. They KNOW that he can't simply engage in order to protect the cut. A judge won't just look for one thing, in this case being an aggressive fighter coming forward. Cotto WAS getting points because he was protecting the cut and was continuing to engage. Like in the round where cotto had clottey in the ropes and was landing really good, where it even seemed like clottey was dizzy. he wasn't even throwing anything back so u can count that 10-8. A judge will look for many different things, much more when u are a champion and are fighting tactically.Last edited by 120; 06-14-2009, 07:35 AM.Comment
