Atlas Says Clottey Dropped The Ball, Could Have Won

This is how i see it.... i never really liked cotto. But even when i was rooting for Clottey Miguel won the fight i had it 6-5-1 for cotto.
everyone seem to be bitching about clottey's knee and this and that, but really Cotto had a terrible cut and the fight should have been stopped, cuz even when it was from an accidental clash of heads, the cut was ugly enough to stop the fight and besides that Cotto had the disadvantage to be fighting with only vision in one eye.
That was a Clottey advantage and he did not take it... i was mad at Clottey for not throwing enough punches, he would stand still at times, and Cotto showed balls and won the last 2 rounds in my scorecard that decided the fight in favor of Cotto, besides that the Knockdown and as many say it was Clottey who gave away the victory, but Cotto has heart and he did pull it out and won a close fight..
but what if Cotto wasnt cut in the fight, i think he outclases Clottey by UD. i bet on clottey (only 5 dollars) but he didnt deserve to win, he was complaining about the knee, the punch behind the head, it reminds me of francisco lorenzo against humberto SOto.
anyway Cotto won and my respect to Cotto for the first time.

On point Teddy.
Its the simple reason why I have great respect for Teddy Atlas. He is a student of the sport, he say it as he sees it, no beating around the bush, no ***** footing. Boxing need you Teddy, boxing needs ethics and morality and you epitomise just that.

I'm sorry but the fight I watched last night had Cotto running the last 3 out of four rounds and Clottey coming forward trying to catch him.
I agree that Clottey did not cut off the ring and do as well the first half of the fight but he sure didn't take the last few rounds off like De La Hoya did ..
IMO Cotto ran like Mayweather knowing it was his home court and he had a judge in his pocket... 116 -111 for a guy with less punch stats ... BS total unadulterated BS.

Man, Atlas is being a f#cking idiot in this situation in my view. Why is it that Cotto gets a pass for running, but DLH is criticized for the same thing. DLH did fight more cowardly than Cotto has in the past in that particular situation. But it's still a double standard. Cotto looked like he got ran over by a truck and the judges just gifted him the fight. Giftuel Cotto.

I just hope that Margarito's (alleged) actions did not take the careers away from Cotto and Cintron. Cotto, despite having an iffy chin, was something special and we don't want to see him a shell of himself from now on after the Margarito fight. The same goes for Cintron down the line.
Atlas is correct though, Clottey has no one to blame but himself for the outcome of the fight. Worst thing a boxer can do is wake up the next morning and say to himself "Could I have done a little bit more to win".

i agree had clottey been more active in 11, 12 he had the fight, cotto couldnt see that right hand coming and joshua wasted that advantage. i do give cotto a lot of respect for fighting 8 rounds with a nasty gash, in all honesty the fight shouldve been stopped by round 5 and cotto risked a ko loss because he was getting nailed once the blood started flowing into his eye. one thing no1 can argue that cotto showed a ton of heart to keep fighting. also dropping clottey with his jab. there needs to be a rematch

What you think that Clottey said... "I change my mind, I'm going out there are losing this ****... I want to go home a loser"...
Please! Clottey lost it in the sense that he didn't have the extre special thing that puches people to give their 110%. Why was that... maybe becuase Cotto had something to do with it... like counterpunching, moving away from range, FIGHTING!
Cotto won it... as much as Clottey lost it.... give props to both and let's call for another one.

Funny, he chased Cotto just to be defensive, he did not train for an all-out offensive, he did not know what to do when the cake was there.
