I had it 115-113 for Cotto. The knockdown in the first and cotto's 11th and 12th won him that fight. Clottey let the last two rounds slip away from him

First off, the ref did a great job in there, by giving Clottey time to recover, and admonishing him to suck it up and continue on like a champ.
And he was equipped a with a pair of scissors to avoid having to stop the fight on account of a loose glove tape. That was good thinking.
I had a feeling, as I usually do, that if the fight went to the judges' cards, the victory would go to the man most didn't think deserved it.
I thought it would end in a split decision or a draw.
116 - 112 ????
That judge must've been playing Fight Night Round 4 at his table in between rounds. Or his pencil kept running out of lead or something.
Clottey didn't impress me as the "hungry for the win" fighter I expected him to be. And I think he was taking the whining a bit too far.
They both got plenty of unusually long rests during the fight.
Cotto showed heart in continuing to fight through the cut.
The knock down gave Cotto the edege.
Overall, the fans got a decent fight for their money.

I need to get this all out. Going into the fight I picked Cotto to get the victory, but Clottey fought a hell of a lot better than what I thought he would and got ripped off in my view. Sure, the reason he lost is the reason why I picked Cotto to win. He did let Cotto off the hook in the last rounds when he could've stopped him. But he landed over 40 more punches than Cotto and was less marked up and less hurt and still lost the fight? I don't get it. Cotto's time at the elite level is running out. I think he'd loose a rematch with Shane Mosley. I also don't think he can beat Floyd Mayweather (never thought he could), Manny Pacquiao, Paul Williams, or Juan Manuel Marquez even. I think Mayweather has chosen a tougher opponent than Miguel Cotto regardless of the size factor.

To me Cotto proved that he has moved beyond the Margarito fight and is fighting at a very high level still.
Cotto proved that he can take some serious punishment. I doubt most other fighters would keep going w/ that nasty gash. I thought it'd be stopped anywhere from the 8th-10th round but I was wrong. REMATCH!!!

And I think it's awful funny that when Cotto was in retreat mode, Clottey would try to throw punches going forward but his right foot would always slip on the fresh paint job on the canvass. That definitely pulled the fight in Cotto's favor. If it didn't exist, then Cotto would have gotten beaten up even worse.

1. Cotto knocked Clottey down in round 1.
2. Cotto fought throught the fight with a big gash on his eye. And Clottey had a great opportunity to finish off Cotto because Cotto could not see the right hands coming because of the cut. So, Clottey by not taking advatage of this cut has no right to say that he won the fight.
3. Cotto also had Clottey in a corner for so long.
Cotto landed the harder shots with blood on his eye.
Cotto WON. Period.
clottey is destined to lose this fight even before he stepped into the ring if the fyt goes to the scorecard. the judge who scored it 116-111 cotto just shows this.

But the writer here is being too harsh. cotto couldve fought till the 5th and then said he couldnt see and won by the scorecards but Cotto decided to fight.
I had Cotto winning by 1 round and thats the way I feel. Cotto was the better man that not. no robbery
