  • Floyd Is The Same Size As These Guys?

Come on now. Did you just see the Cotto-Clottey pics? They easily look atleast 1 weight class bigger than Floyd and the thing is that this is when theyre weight drained. Floyd doesnt even gain weight while they will look even bigger tomorrow. By then they will look atleast 2 weight classes bigger. Seriously, all flaming aside. Theyre is no comparison between Floyd and the WW's. He just fights there. He could have his next 5 fights at 154 but that wouldnt make him a 154 pounder. How can he be a WW when he's fighting at his weighin weight? He's the only guy in boxing doing that. Youre trying to tell me that you can fight at your best like that and that those matchups are fair. That is why Floyd is the guy everyone wants to fight. They know that they can make by far theyre biggest pay day with him, they will get mad cred for beating the #1 guy in the game, and its a very winnable fight due to his size. All the WW's feel that he is too small for them, they can walk through all his punches, and all he can do is pot shot against them. While at the same time all the guys from the lower weights always say that they wont fight any other WW but they will fight Floyd because they dont beleive he is a real WW. The pics dont lie, the numbers dont lie, the facts dont lie.

I love how everyone is saying that JMM wont be the same at that weight. Like Floyd is? Everyone on here says that he's not the same guy he was in the lower weights, all he does is pot shot now, he's super boring, and he's much slower. Floyd isnt the same guy at WW that he is at the other weights so how come you dont care when he's doing it but now you care when its JMM? Truthfully you have to admit that he is not capable of being his best. He's the only guy in boxing you can say that about. If Cotto walks around at 175 and fought at MW let alone LHW, you know he would not be at his best. No one looks the same when they fight at there normal weight and thats why no one else in boxing is doing it. No one. Even look at the great Pac. He put on a show against Oscar but I think we can all agree that he didnt look as good in that fight as he did at LW & 140 and the reason is that it was the only fight where he didnt really gain any weight after the weigh-in. Youre going to lose something when you do that and yet Floyd does that every single fight. You think Cotto is not going to fight like the best Cotto? They dont hold back anything but Floyd has to. If you let Floyd go back to 140 right now then he looks night & day different. I think JMM & Pac have a better chance to beat him the higher the weight goes because Floyd is that small. He will look much crisper at 140. He will be much faster, fluid, and would never pot shot. It slows you down.

I remember Roach saying that Floyd could easily fight at 140 but he's just lazy. I laughed that off because we all know that Floyd isnt lazy but now Im starting to really 2nd guess that. I dont think he's lazy but I think he wants his cake & eat it too. I think he does want everything to just be comfortable right now. He shouldve went back down to 140 after the Oscar fight. Hopefully with the layoff Floyd has gained weight. Its obvious that no one is going to give him credit for the JMM fight anyways so I wish he would come in the ring at 152 pounds or more. That will tell me that he is finally bigger but Im not banking on it. Still, I think he ruined alot of his career by moving up. The media & fans hate him so much that they judge him like he is really a big guy so they rip him for not fighting them while at the same time he's also being downplayed on his overall skills. If he wouldve stayed at LW & 140 longer then people would be looking at him totally different. Then would think that he truly is one of the most amazing fighters to ever come around with his speed, top notch D, wide array of Offensive variety, and he would be alot more exciting with more KO's. Now he's just settled into fighting at WW. Even if he retires undefeated he still will never look as good in those fights as he couldve. I think he might will against JMM & Pac because theyre guys really near his size and it will be at a lower weight but I think he wont get as much credit for it.

People will always look at guys like SRL as better fighters but thats only because they are like everyone else who is fighting today. They are fighting at there top form. Floyd isnt doing that because he wants to stay at WW. If he was at LW or 140 you would see a totally different fighter who couldve had a killer resume of JMM, Pac, MAB, EM, Campbell, Guzman, Bradley, and so on. Who wouldve beat him? Not only would he have won but he wouldve done it in exciting fashion. He probably wouldve just overwhelmed all those guys, knocked them all out, and looked exciting in doing it. Then everyone would judge him different. Instead now he's going ot have to fight guys who everyone thinks he's the same size as but theyre really 15 pounds or more bigger in the ring, 30 pounds or more bigger outside the ring, will look 1 weight class bigger inside the ring, and naturally they will look 2 weight classes bigger. Again, he will probably still win every fight but he wont look anywhere near as good in doing it as he wouldve at his natural weights and that will really hurt his legacy. Its like if Aaron Pryor wouldve fogught alot of his career at WW and 154. He still wouldve won a ton of fights but he wouldnt have been the same guy. It changes everything.

Floyd never had to move up. Ever since he left 130 he has been P4P the smallest guy in boxing. He was the smallest guy in every weight he fought at after that, yet he moved up to chase Oscar. After that he shouldve went back down to his normal weight and maybe move back up to WW when he's older & bigger but he stayed theyre and his legacy is forever ruined. No one will give him the benefit of doubt and like I said, even if he beats the WW's, he wont look as good in doing it as guys like SRL and stuff so people will call him overrated. You have alot of guys on here who say it now. They dont think he looks special. There's a reason for that. He's not himself. He's not the full fledge Floyd. If he was down at 140 or LW then it would be night & day. He would be fighting guys his own size like eveyrone else in boxing is doing and he would look like a class or 2 even over the best fighters in the game. He blew it and his ****** responses never help him. He doesnt even know how to defend himself. Everytime he tries to defend himself, he says exactly what the haterz say about him and they along with the media will make his legacy. The bottom line is that if he had stayed at LW & 140 for a long time like he did 130 then we would be talking about him totally different. He would still be undefeated and his skill level would look so dominant that everyone would be calling him one of the greatest ever. I think he wouldve passed RJ in alot of ways because he would be more complete and fundemental. He wouldve had a ton of fights like Gatti against guys who the media love. You think he wouldnt straight up destroy a guy like Bradley at 140 if he was there? Bradley wouldnt land a single punch the whole fight and would get KO

Floyd usually comes in to the welter fight at 146-147. It was always obvious Floyd is smaller compared to guys like Mosley, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, etc. He is a superior athlete to most of these guys.

You can't take away the fact that he is still smaller at the weight, in comparison to Mosley and Cotto... just look at the fight night weights.

Anyway this small welterweight stuff is irrelevant and shouldn't sway the topic away from what DLT is trying to say... DLT always brings good points and you should be responding to him.

In fairness Floyd has been fighting people either bigger or the same size as him his whole career (with the occasional person smaller).

too long for me to read but i got the idea. floyd walks around between 147-150. he weights in at 147 and comes in the ring at his walkin around weight. other welters weight in a 147 but come in the ring closer to middle weights. floyd is a small welter.

Nope doesn't matter one bit to me. If youre a small WW drop 7lbs and to jr. WW. It's really that simple to me. no need for this 144 BS, go to 140. If you choose to fight at 147 then that's what you choose as best for you, as other fighters do for them. Its your decision right.

You can argue it's an advantage for floyd as he doesn;t have to kill himself as much as these other bigger WW's do to make the weight. He can eat more, be healthier, etc. At the end of the day if you both weight the same 36 hours before the fight your the same size for the weight class you fight in. If you dont like it change to same day weigh ins.

But he's one of the strongest.

The so-called big welters can't win a title at 154.

                  Bigger doesn't mean better...or stronger.

Floyd is not a Welterweight, Welterweights such as Cotto,Clottey,Margo,Shane,PWill all weight around 160 at fight night. Floyd still weighs 147 at fight night. If he was fighting one of those guys he would give up a ton of weight. Now Floyd is fighting JMM at 147 and not 140 because he has a larger advantage their:
                    1). He's bigger than JMM
2). He's fought at this weight many times; JMM doesn't haven't have any experience fighting at such a weight.
3). Since he is a bigger draw than JMM he can dictate the weight so why not take as big of an advantage as you can get...
4). He's not a risk taker, and is very unlikely to fight against an evenly matched opponent nowdays when he can force little guys to fight him.

Now whether or not you think it's fair that he is forcing JMM to fight at such a disadvantage is up to you. On a personal note I'd like Floyd to fight JMM at 140 but alas what can you do… I really wish they would go back to the days when you weighed in the day of the fight it would settle a lot of this hoopla in my opinion.
