Exactly, he could clinched, boxed from the center of the ring, and just spoil Margarito's offense until the final bell and hope he was ahead. Instead, he retreated and quit.

good point, but clottey's got better defense.

Cotto clearly beat Mosley in MSG. Mosley himself said a Cotto rematch is a step backwards for him. So why giving him a rematch?
They both need to fight each other period. As much as I don't like Mayweather, Cotto and Mosley are holding the division hostage as well by not fighting each other. If they don't fight each other, why don't one of them fight Paul Williams? He said he is willing to move back down.

maestro ive been blamed for being u on here relentlessly , in fact my rep power has suffered for it ,however people on here hate to hear the truth in fact they give each other the green most of em for saying what each other wants to hear anyway i agree that pac has yet to beat a fighter without a giant asterdisk next to his name and cotto is a quitter even though i think he truly one of the best.pac has only beat b class fighters or old and shot ones fok you pacfans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Cotto loses this fight which I don't think he will, then his career is going to be at a stand still. I think Mayweather has circumvented his way from fighting all the top guys at 147, and I don't like him for it. But I view Cotto as the weakest link of all of them. And that will re-enforce my opinion if he loses a fight he's supposed to win. Even though I think Cotto's body punching (if he uses it) will serve him well against Clottey and get him the victory, I actually view Clottey as a tougher fight for Floyd. Mayweather has never fought a sturdy guy that I know of that covers the face up well. And even though Floyd knows how to throw body punches, I don't think they would have a lot of steam on them to take the wind out of Clottey. Cotto is just too open for them uppercuts against Mayweather, and his hand speed is too slow to land any flush punches on Floyd.

More people who know nothing about clottey ,sigh.
How does he sound unsure of himself? Clottey has never EVER in his entire career said he'd "beat" anyone. He's always only said " Me and X will make a great fight because..... " or " I think I may be able to beat X because .... "

Clottey is a very humble guy and has never predicted victory, only "expected" it. He's not unsure.. he's just being his typical self.

Oh, I forgot that boxing is a popularity contest. I don't view Hatton or Gatti as elite fighters and they got some of the most undeserved opportunities at big time fights that I can think of. That title belt that Cotto won belongs to Paul Williams. HBO kicked a potential Williams-Jennings fight to the curb and rightfully so. But Arum just had to put Cotto on a Top Rank PPV with that bum after Paul left the division. But that's what Cotto always does. He squats on them vacant titles.
