Miguel Cotto: "I'm Ready For Anything Clottey Brings"

WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (33-1, 27 KOs) is predicting a big win on Saturday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, where a thousands of Puerto Rican fans will cheer him on as he defends his title against former champion Joshua Clottey (35-2, 20 KOs) of Ghana. Cotto says that he is ready for Clottey, but wonders if the Ghanaian fighter is ready for him. [details]

He needs to fight confident against Clotty.

Clotty may walk in the ring at 170 and stand right in front of him.

Cotto has throw with conviction, while watching out for Clottys underrated countering ability.

This is going to be Cotto's toughest fight ( second to the Margarito fight ). Clottey is very deceptive and he's got good defense. He's also the bigger fighter which will be his biggest advantage in the fight. I'm not a Cotto fan, however I have to give the nod for Cotto. He's been the more ACTIVE fighter this year, he looks and feels like he's in great shape. You can always expect a good performance out of Cotto. Plus he's going to have his Puerto Rican fans cheering him on. If I'm a betting man- I'd bet for Cotto.

I sense Cotto as focus and as confident as i have ever seen him. I also notice that his abs have been as pronounce in his body as he has ever have, 2 weeks ago, and we are talking about a guy that even on the weigh-in before the fight his abs have never been as pronounce. This might be indicative that moving the training camp from Puerto Rico, gave him the opportunity to concentrate and be in great physical conditions. I also heard his trainer say that they were working on some different thing with Cotto, especially on his defense. Another good sign from Cotto's corner is that he hired a great cutman (Jose "Cano" Chaves), which he might need him badly for this fight, because of Cotto's bleeding history and his not facing any chump in Clottey.

On Clottey i would not say the he looks unsure because that is just his stlye. this is another good fighter that comes to fight not to talk and is going to put up a great fight. I don't think that Cotto can knock him out because he's a tough guy. Clottey will have to be more busy on offense in order to win the neccesary round to win a decision and we all know that Clottey some time don't have a hight thrown punch stat.

My oficial opnion is that Cotto will beat Clottey by unanimous decision, especially if he has learned to stay off the ropes against this tough, good and hungry fighter that has been looking for this type of fight to earn the reconigtion that he beleives deserves and will try to use this fight to prove it to everybody.

Should be a great fight and may the best fighter win.

I hate to break it to you Cotto fans, but to me the winner of this fight is a forgone conclusion. And that's why I will give minimal credit to Cotto once he beats Clottey. His credit from me is waiting once he decides to rematch Shane Mosley in Vegas. He would gain my respect if he fought Paul Williams as well.

Cotto clearly beat Mosley in MSG. Mosley himself said a Cotto rematch is a step backwards for him. So why giving him a rematch?
