First, who had the better career, and second, which win for Wright and Morales respectively is worth more.
Poll coming.
I think Ayala had the better career. His wins over Tapia were against a fighter at his peak and the best in the division. Can't remember which fight, but I thought Tapia took one of them. Both were razor thin and great fights.
I think the Wright fight was worth more to answer the second part of our question. Ike was closer to his best weight.
Quartey got robbed against both De La Hoya and Forrest. Had he not he'd surely make the HOF. Quartey truly ducked no one, and was dominated by no one. Very under rated fighter.
But his fight against Winky wasn't all that significant since he didn't have a remote chance of winning and Winky didn't have much to gain from beating him.

Ike's best weight was 147 lbs....he fought Winky @ 160.
Ayala did his thing with Tapia, but didn't he get Ko'd by Angel Manfredy?
Quartey is one of the most underrated, underappreciated fighters of his generation... I thought he absolutley beat Vargas as well.. he got caught up with all the politics associated with boxing.. It's a shame that he left during his prime years.. it would have been a huge match against the likes of Judah, Mosely, Margarito, Cotto and he would have gotten into the ring against Paul Williams as well..
Last fight he had against Forrest was a sham.. Everyone knew He won that fight but still left with the L..

It was the rematch that Tapia clearly won and got robbed in. The first fight went to Ayala fairly. I've also heard that his fights with Clarence Bones Adams were pretty disputed.
I ended up voting the exact opposite of you... I voted Quartey for career, and Morales-Ayala as the better win... although I can't really explain why I picked one win over the other. Clear domination I guess, and the fact that Ayala was on the slide, considering he lost to Barrera even worse right after the Morales fight.

Even so... Ayala was a career bantamweight and fought Morales at featherweight.

Ahhh Bones Adams.. I remember watching those fights with my dad. Even though I'm Texan, I really didn't like Ayala that much..he seemed so fake to me at the time, but from what i hear, he is a really classy guy and all..

I've never seen them... how should they have been scored?
Yeah, I have heard a lot that Ayala was a super classy guy as well.
