Pavlik vs. Froch Could Take Place in 2010, Says Arum

Bob Arum popped up on the Steve Bunce show today and spoke about a mooted showdown between WBC super middleweight king Carl Froch and middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik. The fight could take place in 2010, and would be a showdown between the only two men to have defeated Jermain Taylor, the man who many believed would be the next big thing in world boxing. [details]

Good thing you put "Says Arum" in the title. That means "maybe, but not likely."

        You're a little slow?

        Hopefully it goes ahead.

I think Kelly Pavlik’s status has somewhat declined in the past year and a half. Pavlik’s a fighter that cannot be left inactive and is best when he’s fighting 3 times a year against good opposition. There’s been too much ‘talking up’ of a future fights (Froch, Williams, Abraham, Sturm, etc.) and not enough match making. Arum needs to set a fight date for Pavlik and then find a suitable opponent. And another thing- why is there so much reluctance to fight Sturm or Abraham on German soil? Sure, everyone decries that “Germany is corrupt” but the majority of us know that a fight with AA or Sturm probably will not go to the scorecards…

I think this will be a good one, for him and the fans, especially if he fights sturm this fall.... good unification fight w/ sturm followed by a stiff opponent in Froch... and both fights should get him some cash

              What a contrast !

Here you have two real fighters with the balls to get out and do their thang in the middle of the ring, two real fighters

              in Contrast to

              Mayweather Jr, the runner:

              1. Runs his Mouth

              2. Runs in the ring

              3. Liar: Said he would destroy Oscar

How can you real fight fans really like this guy ??????????????????

If Froch/Pavlik happens, i have it Froch by TKO.

Sturm however should not be overlooked. One of the best jabs in boxing today. Stable defense. Good workrate. No easy task.

I want Froch/Bute to happen though. Two fully-fledged 168s going for the undisputed number 1 spot now Kessler is off the scene.

If Pavlik and Froch get by them fights, THEN we can look at the possibility of them facing off against one another in 2010.
