read the article. point is, cotto doesn't lose fans because he fights everybody in his division (margs, mosley, clottey etc) and gives his best regardless of winning or losing, floyd on the other hand cherry picks easy fights from lower weight divisions.

he is comparing two different types of fighters. There are the Cotto/Mosley/Adamek/Judah/Hatton/JMM/MAB/Trinidad/Sweet Pea/Pwill/Dawson/GlenJohnson/Izzy/Holyfield types ie guys who want to fight the best to be the best) and the businessmen types Sturm/MayweatherZsolt Erdei/to a lesser extent Calzaghe types.

I love all the hate for Calzaghe that Mayweather fans give him. Such freaking hypocrites, both guys took safe fights and always looked for some advantage instead of just taking on the best challenge they could.

only time arum mentions floyd is when he says that floyd does everything in his power to keep a zero in the loss column.

Thats because the number ONE thing in Floyd's mind is how he can keep that O..... thats in the press conferences, thats his money ticket, if he loses that O then he loses his big money. We want watch fighters with balls not ballarinas that run their mouth.

i dont even know why boxing stars go with the little promotional firms. if u got a name & have hardware u gotta go with the big boys in greedy boy & top rank.

First off.... Sycuan is far from a little promotional firm. At one point they held 5 world champs, (Guzman, Vazquez, Baldomir, Caballero, J. Diaz) They still have those fighters, but also have added top welterwieght prospect Carlos Abregu.

Second, when fighter go's to sign with your "Big Boys" they end up getting screwed. Golden Boy and TR use their status as leverage, and the magority of the time dont even offer a signing bonus. Or they leave a fighter to ride the bench, or underpay them.
You should read the article again, Vazquez was already with Golden Boy. Sycuan was able to sign him because of how miserable he was with them. He never fought, and never made any money. It was Sycuan that has gotten him his monster fights and paydays (Larios, Gonzales, Marquez 1,2,3) It was Sycuan that gave him a 100k bonus after the 3rd fight, simply cause they were proud of him.

What you are suggesting is to give Golden Boy a monopoly on the sport. This would water down the playing field, as well as take away all leverage from the fighters. Golden Boy would have total control of who fights who, and could low ball the **** out of fighters, and they could do nothing about it.
I assure you, Vazquez is very happy with his decision to go to Sycuan, he would not be where he is today otherwise.
