Insider Notebook: Vazquez Dispute, Margarito Comeback, Pavlik-Sturm and Cotto Too

By Robert Morales - Serious negotiations for a fourth fight between Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez could begin soon. But before that can happen a mess involving Vazquez's promotional contract with Sycuan Ringside Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions has to be settled.

Enter Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. He is the man currently trying to resolve this issue. Vazquez and his manager, Frank Espinoza, recently announced during an international conference call that Vazquez would be returning to the ring following more than a year off because of three surgeries to repair a detached retina in his right eye.

During that call Espinoza mentioned that Vazquez's promotional contract would end on June 5. Therein lies the bone of contention that must be resolved.

Gary Shaw, Marquez's promoter, was asked Wednesday if he had discussed the fourth fight with Espinoza. Shaw said he doesn't deal with a fighter's manager when discussing a fight, but his promoter. Shaw specifically mentioned that Sycuan still is Vazquez's promoter. [details]

it probably comes to money issues and percentage cuts.

true, but arum was also right about margo's redemption. he has to be as devastating as before or people will know. (hopefully arum won't tweek it so that margo fights a bunch of tomato cans).

everyone always questions his balls. but think about it, the guy makes tons of money fighting no namers in germany. why would he have it any other way? for the right amount of money and right opportunity, he will most def fight pavlik and from the looks of things and what i have been hearing, sturm vs pavlik is going to get made.

Why is Arum on Floyd. This has nothing to do with Floyd. Cotto has his style and Tony has his style. Why can't Floyd have his. There are fighters out there who can beat Floyd(Cotto, Williams, Shane etc.) and it would be sweeter for the one that beats him to beat him while he's fighting his style. Arum need to forget about Floyd and just make sure Cotto does not leave Top Rank end of this year.
