I thought the Mickey Ward one looked to be in production and would have Christian Bale + Mark Wahlberg in it.The Tyson movie with Jamie Foxx has tons of potential. Great story and actor.
Ali had so much potential but I thought it could have been better. Will Smith was good though.
If the Hopkins movie has the budget and a director as good as Ron Howard, this could be as good as Cinderella Man.
ANOTHER Tyson movie? I thought they already made one, with Michale Jai White (who played in Spawn) playing Tyson. Don't get me wrong Iron Mike is an interesting boxer, but Hollywood should expand it's movie tastes
hell why not a Sugar Ray Robinson Movie? Terrance Howard would do a great job as a lead, and kinda looks like SRR
and even if he doesn't, why not do a movie on the man considered to be the best boxer alive?
cuz like him or not Iron Mike is a bit played out, and doing a movie on Sugar Ray would be a story not told.Comment

a movie on ray robinson is a great idea. he was hated, he was outstanding, he was an ******* and at the end of his career, he finally reached a certain level of redemption.Comment

Oh damn, right, sorry are you talking about that crazy party, BNP? The racists. Man I have no idea what the hell happened there.
They said they've remodelled themselves and are completley different...but yeah, I dunno bout that.
I guess people are getting scared over in England with the economy, they want to watch their own backs. And a party that seems to worry about British only might appeal to a lot of people.Comment

that's what i'm saying.
Hollywood should think outside the box for once. making a movie about Tyson is so predictable.
and besides all Sugar Ray's accomplishments .. it's a story that's never really been told before.
at least not in any kind of Movie to my knowledge.Comment

One reason is the expenses scandal. It's recently been revealed that MPs from the 3 main parties have all been claiming for expenses that they shouldn't be claiming for, ie. a moat for their house, money for a mortgage that they've already paid off, salary for relatives who live 100 miles away etc. A lot of people are pissed at the 3 main parties and looking to register a protest vote.
Just to put it into perspective, one party (UKIP) came 2nd, ahead of Labour. What this means is that a party with zero seats in the UK parliament came ahead of the party that has the most seats.
Another reason is the low turnout, which was something like 40%. People of the far-right and far-left tend to be more dedicated and are more likely to vote than the average person.
Final reason is that the MEPs are elected using a proportional representation system. This means that the BNP had a candidate elected even though they only got 6.5% of the vote.Comment

the thing is, even with most people here, they cite ray robinson all day because hes the consensus greatest, but you get to hear stuff like "ray robinson was never about money" "ray robinson wasnt an ******* to the media like ______" etc
when if you know him and you know his career, you know damn well he was everything most fighters are today, if not worse, the thing he would pull would make guys like ray leonard, de la hoya and floyd jr look like saints. Demanding huge purses, a day before the fight, then threatening to not show up if not paid etc. Dude was hated all over, he was hated for being so good. hated for being black. hated for being a jerk. a wifebeater. everything.
Most people here on this site really arent astute on historical fighters and tend to just name drop for the sake of it, thus they have this fake nostalgia that the older generation "fought for glory" yea ****ing right. if they could jerk the sanctioning bodies back then like they do now, you best believe ray robinson would fight 3 times a year for millions of dollars and weighing risk/reward just like todays guys do now. A movie about him would put alot of boxing fans in check.Comment

This is a good perspective, i understand that scandal was absolutely huge. I am just dissapointed that their pathetic movement picked up steam like it has. Thanks. One reason is the expenses scandal.
