Looks like Johnson-Dawson 2 is going down in November, why not sooner?

I think Dawson lacks the confidence to beat Johnson a second time. I really do. He knows it's over for him on the big stage if he loses to a 41 year-old journeyman who is a ****load better than his record would suggest. HBO will realize that he is not as good as they thought he was.

Those who attribute this to a Dawsonian conspiracy will be singing a different tune when you see the two of them in the ring together and realize that the difference in two months (especially when these guys havent even started training!) is absolutely irrelevant.

Reading Steve Kim's article about HBO's tight budget makes me understand why this fight may not happen right away and that's understandable. But what's taking Dawson so long to sign the contract?

Dawson is definitely good, his wins over Eric Harding, Tomasz Adamek, Glen Johnson, and Antonio Tarver X2, prove that. And this fight should be in September 12, HBO knows better.

Where have you heard about this rematch being in September specifically? I heard that is a possibility, but it is likely going down in November. And where did you get September 12 from? I'm not saying you are wrong, I just want to know where you got it at? I view Chad Dawson as a good fighter, even though I'm an admitted detractor. Most of his fans are objective. But the ones that try to make it like he's the second coming of Jesus Christ is what gets on my nerves. My disdain for him personally comes from the raw deal that Glen Johnson got in the aftermath of that fight along with those smug comments that Dawson made to Karen Bryant. Johnson also got screwed out of a decent payday with Adamek. That fight would have probably brought more money than a Chad rematch. But that's not Chad's fault that the networks turned it down.

What makes you think it's dawson specifically? Did Kim allude to that?

I hope Glen knocks him out.

I met Glen Johnson a month ago at the movies. Coolest dude I've ever met.

If the fight goes down in November I would be very disappointed, that would give Dawson 6 months to prepare, that is ridiculously long. But than again Dawson took 7 months to prepare for Glen Johnson in their first meeting. It should take a championship caliber boxer 15-19 weeks to prepare for a fight, not 6 months. September 12 is just an estimate if the fight does go down on September, and it would be on a Saturday.

The actual article I read had nothing to do with the negotiations of this rematch. It was actually about how HBO's boxing budget is on empty. It alluded to the Dawson-Tarver rematch contributing to that. And I suspect HBO's tight budget is why the Glen-Chad rematch is probably gonna take place in November because of dried up TV dates.
