Obviously - contrary to you - I have watched all of Ali's fights.
His defense is NON-EXISTENT. If you want to see a fighter eating tons of punches then either watch Sam Peter or Ali.
Just watch Ali vs Miteff (a 26-13 bum!) (beginning of Ali's career)
Or Ali vs Norton III (end of Ali's career).
Or Ali vs Forman (middle of Ali's career). Ali has absolutely no defense except eating punches and clowning around.
Ali eats nearly everything thrown at him.
I don't know who invented that lie - that Ali had reflexes whatsoever is a myth by good-old-times nostalgists, who obviously hope that noone ACTUALLY WATCHES his fights.
His only defense was
- to run away (= "flying", "floating" = clowning around)
- his chin
- choking, clinching, insulting, arm-holding, head-down-pushing. Just watch his disgraceful behaviour in the Foreman fight. Or basically any of his fights.
DIS-GUS-TING. Every Ali fan needs a reality check. Before you talk about reflexes think about why Ali got Parkinson in the first place.

Watch and I mean watch Ali v Liston and Foreman and see how many clean punches land on him. You never know you might learn to enjoy the sport and be able to retain an interest when the Klit brothers retire.
Not forgetting the featherfisted Liston, Foreman and Shavers. Or do we have an adjusted KO % for them?
Maybe only counting fighters they knocked out in Germany. No hold on, that wont suit as Ali stopped 100% of his opponents In Germany
Also Ali stopped 7 out of 7 in Europe which is much better than the Klit brothers even though it is their home territory so to speak.

Would rather YOU don't watch his fights to be honest as it is like giving a bald man a comb.
Yes thats pretty much his only defense:
a) using his legs
b) rolling away from punches
c) tying up opponents on the inside if a) or b) don't work
d) Relying on his fantasitic chin if a) to c) don't work.
No one ever knocked him out so worked out pretty good for him.
What other methods of defense did he miss?Comment

- Foreman landed LOADs of good shots except for the parts where Ali choked him or pushed down Foreman's head. Foreman gassed because he was probably poisoned as Ali's trainer (co-trainer Drew Brown) bragged about. A large part of Ali's reputation is based on the fact that they failed to delete the Foreman-win off Ali's record and that there was no Ali-Foreman II to set things straight.
- Ali was 206 lbs (Ali vs Liston II). Such a light fighter would fight as cruiser nowadays. Of course he is a bit faster than nowadays heavies. Having said that: Ali was again clowning around (= running aways to keep his 2 meters distance from Liston).
- In Ali vs Liston I Ali ran away as usual. Yawn.
Foreman was not a featherfist. Foreman is one of the hardest punchers ever.
Liston has an OK KOratio BECAUSE HE WAS A KOer OF BUMS.
Once you delete bums of his record (= those who lose 25% or more) he has scored 8 KOs in 14 fights.
In his entire heavyweight career (200+) against better competition Liston has scored 4 KO wins (FOUR) and 2 losses.
The nicest thing we can say about Liston is: Too untested in heavyweight waters to make a final conclusion.
After his losses to Ali, Liston boxed 14 more opponents, ALL OF WHICH were featherfists and/or bums. Most of which were natural cruisers. Obviously he knew his correct place.

I am not reading this whole thread.....
Wlad did the right thing upon the cancelationand went out and found a perfectly viable opponent.
Maybe Haye could go ahead and take on the Vitali portion of his contract.Comment
