Klitschko vs. Chagaev is Set For June 20 in Germany

Haye hasn't even spoken to the press yet. It was Booth who said that his doctor in Cyprus had advised that he could be ready by July 11. But Haye subsequently had more tests by a different doctor in London, who presumably thought it would take longer. You can accuse Booth of jumping the gun or of being over-optimistic, but to accuse him of lying is just idiotic. What would he have had to gain by intentionally lying? Nothing. It would just make him look silly, and have no possible advantages for him at all.
I don't know how you could have missed it.Comment

You cant really blame anyone for whatever decision they choose in this situation, injuries happens all the time and its up to the people involve to make a decision on what to do next, If HBO doesnt want to screen te fight then thats their business.
I personally dont want to go over to germany for a Chagaev/Wlad fight because i can see it on TV.Comment

It was Booth who spoke to Bunce. If any press articles said it was Haye, they were inaccurate.Comment

Alright, I must confess, I didn't realize that Chagaev fought in February. I was thinking that he hadn't fought in over a year, and that is why I didn't really agree with his ranking. Nonetheless, I still don't think that a fight between him and Wlad should be for the Ring title. #2 ranked Vitali, the former Ring champion, came back from retirement and has so far beaten two top ten heavyweights while claiming the WBC title. Although the two brothers will never fight, a fight between them would be the only way to determine the true HW champ.Comment

There could never be a fight between the two brothers, and The Ring policy has always been that if a fight between the #1 and #2 can't be made, then a fight between the #1 and #3 will be for The Ring title. They are being entirely consistent with the policy they have always had, and all genuine boxing fans should be glad there will be an undisputed champion in the division at last after so many years.Last edited by illumin8ed66; 06-06-2009, 01:54 PM.Comment

He LOST/DREW against Shavers. Get over it.
He LOST against Ali. Don't make things up.
Jimmy Young has a heavyweight career record of 20(4KOs)-12 (where both fighters are 200+). He is a bum. That he won against Foreman doesn't make him a non-bum, otherwise Puritty would be worldclass too.
How many KOs did Shavers actually score in world heavyweight fights? ZERO. The two times he fought for a heavyweight title he LOST.
No, Shavers wasn't a heavyweight featherfist (Ali was a featherfist, just like Frazier, Holyfield and Byrd).
Shavers was a KOer of bums.Comment

No it was Valuev who pulled out of the last fight, not Chagaev. Chagaev had extremely low, non-infectious levels of Hepatitis antigen in his blood. In almost any country in the world other than Finland, the fight would have gone ahead, but Finland has stricter (i.e. over-cautious) rules. And it was Valuev who wanted the fight to take place in Finland rather than Germany. Even then, Valuev was told the fight could proceed as long as he had a vaccination, but he refused to have one. Funny how no one is saying Wlad shouldn't fight Chagaev because of the risk of infection - that's because there is no risk of infection.Comment
