Maybe he won't be able to hang with the best in the division. Then again maybe he will. Give the fighter time to develop and take it one fight at a time.
With Cotto it was a little different... sure Cotto was developing, but I think it was making 140lb that hindered his performance more than anything.

Oh most def. The point I am making though is that people were so quick to write him off because he got knocked down and didn't look as impressive as expected. When he went up in weight he eventually started managing his body a bit better as well. if he would have done that at 140lbs early on he may have had a easier time. Young fighters will make mistakes and sometimes thats a good thing is what I'm getting at.

I see what you are saying, I just don't think that direct comparison applies here. Berto is in the weight class he should be in... the only thing holding him back is himself... where, weight, was a huge factor in holding Cotto back..

But I understand the whole writing fighters off because of sub par performances...

Yeah man I think the holding thing is what a lot of people are pissed about but early on I had the feeling that would happen because Berto looked to be weary of clashing heads. He got caught a couples times and then started holding on the inside. Against a different fighter you might see a completely different type of fight.

I agree completely.... Most orthodox vs southpaw fights, aren't very pretty to begin with..

He has already gained a WW world title so right there, he has amounted to something, the Welter Weight champion. I don't think he'd beat a lot of the elite WW's but he's still a solid fighter who has accomplished a great thing. Getting a belt in one of the richest talent ridden divisions. Give the guy some props.

eh. theres a limit to how far he can go, but I think he would give the real top Welterweights decent fights before getting beat up.

new trainers would help him out greatly, their strategies for him are meh terrible. It seems like a joke for me as just a boxing fan to try and judge that, but really...I personally find it hard to believe that hes going to go much farther if he keeps fighting the way he has been lately.

Ill give him some more time...but as of now Id be quite surprised if he ever became the #1 fighter at Welterweight.

I don't know about zero pop, we'll disagree there.

The thing that bothers me about Berto is, he has the physical gifts. The fact that his trainer was encouraging him to fall in and hold like that is not a good thing. He needs a whole new camp. He needs a lot of work done before he steps up if he wants to win.

I think he has the speed to be highly competitive, but he won't win. He'll get caught too much, and I don't think he has the chin f or it.

Um hasn't he ALREADY amounted to something? A champion? Top 10?

                    What have you done?

You don't admit anything about "your fighter". Calling him "your fighter" shows just how delusional and weird you are. You still don't even think Margarito used plaster Why don't you go get banned again for the 20th time. You add nothing to the boards other than letting us know you have a stiff **** for Margarito.
