And Im pretty sure there is a HUGE difference between defending and supporting a younger undefeated fighter, and defending a KNOWN cheat of the entire sport.

Now that he has a belt, people assume he needs to jump fully into a campaign to polish his resume. Had a guy like Vargas been brought up like Berto is, he likely would have had a much better career.

Agreed... I think if Berto WOULDNT of got that belt he would be better off, and under less criticism until he was ready for the elite of the division.

But Im sure he saw the opportunity to become a champion and he took it, and I dont blame it... no matter what happens from here on out, he can always say he was a champion in the welterweight division.

He'll have to fight a Quintanna, Judah or Collazo 2 soon though. He'd likely come in as favorite on all three fights.

At least I admit my fighter's flaws and wrongdoings, you on the other hand disregard all of Berto's flaws. Try harder white boy.

But he is young, and I believe he will still improve.

And no I am not some fanboy, but thanks for your opinion.

He got his belt fby fighting a bum for Floyd's old belt. I would give him far more respect if he won the belt from Cotto, Clottey, floyd or mosley.

I recall people saying some things like this about Cotto early on when he was at 140ls. "wait till he gets caught with something big at 147lbs." "Once he steps up its over." "What a hype job." Cotto turned out to be a grat fighter that was just going through some growing pains early on. I think its better that Berto goes through tough akward fights now to prepare him for the big time. Maybe he won't be able to hang with the best in the division. Then again maybe he will. Give the fighter time to develop and take it one fight at a time.

So you'd have more respect for Berto had he defeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. I think that's fair..
