Cloud was offered spot on Dawson-Johnson II undercard

In order to help build to a potential fight with Dawson, Shaw said he offered Cloud's team a deal under which Cloud would fight on HBO's Dawson-Johnson II televised undercard with the guarantee that if Cloud and Dawson, 26, both won, Dawson's next defense would come against Cloud on HBO, which had approved the plan.

Shaw said Cloud's team turned it down, even though Cloud would have made "way more money" under that plan that he will now by fighting for a vacant belt without HBO's backing.

"The networks aren't interested in Cloud and he would be a step down for Chad at this point in his career," Shaw said. "But we were willing to fight him under that deal. Cloud's people turned it down. To me, Cloud's people are mismanaging his career and not doing what is best for him. He may get a title shot, but so what if he's not making any real money? The exposure and money on HBO two times in a row would be way better for him, so in my mind it wasn't a good business decision for Cloud. Chad will go on with his career."

That's kind of ****** being that Cloud already was "guaranteed" to fight Chad for his belt. Kind of silly to say to him yet again, sure I guarantee we'll fight you next time!"

And if Cloud beats Woods Cloud will have a belt. Maybe Dawson can then challenge Cloud to get his old belt back if he wants.

I wonder who that had intended to be Cloud's opponent for the undercard. I think his team is thinking this. Yeah we can get more money and exposure right now for these two fights on HBO, but they want to beat Woods and have that belt as leverage in negotiations with Dawson; or get a couple title defense before getting in the ring w/ Chad.

Thats a ****** move by them. First off it would build interest in the fight if Cloud beat someone with a name. Secondly, people could actually see him fight. I have never seen Cloud fight on tv(only youtube). If you don't fight on t.v. no one will know who you are. Dumb move.

But rules are rules and cloud has been waiting patiently for his shot for what, over a year now? Why should he have to take another fight and wait even longer? It's not always about money you know, it's not like Chad is some superstar anyways.

As long as Dawson rematches Glenn Johnson I am happy. And if he can beat him this time without shadyness I would like to see Hopkins fight him.

And those are both good fights.

Cloud seems to lost his momentum after his victory in Chicago last August.

This is 9 months and counting without a fight.

Not a good plan for an up and comer wanting to make a name for himself.
