His preparations was well covered by the german papers. The klits are megastars in Germany. The press follows their every move.

As a curiosum after the fight BILD.DE ran a story on Sam Peter saying that he didn't train while in Germany and that he was out partying all night in camp

Agree he could have had a bit more time. That said, i would not say he was THAT shot. I mean he did go on for 10+ more years, including a UD loss to a Prime Holyfield

all that maybe be true, and i dont dispute that. but you go by what others say, the same way you go by what Larry says.

Unfourtanetly the coverage that Vitali got from press was not the same that Larry got. Had everything to do with Germany loving Vitali, and America hating Larry.

but as he has mentioned in his autobiography, as well as in interviews, that he's been doing roadwork and engaging in competitive sparring sessions. that has been confirmed by him and people he trained with, all those that were involved. And as was his custom he ran his mouth against Tyson at the press conference about how he was gonna destroy him. Coming into the scrap supremely confident.

Years later he can say whatever he wants which plays up to his advantage. He blamed everything from preparation to his corner work lol. He got paid for that fight, and he got paid well.

I look at Holmes' body, his weight on scale, the stories he told before the fight, and it all suggests that Larry put in the work. He wasnt just sitting around for 2 years Bat, i know it's hard for you to except that. If larry had been shot and out of shape, the fight would have ended in the first round. You can believe that.

The weight is only a parameter. It's never the whole story. Otherwise you might think that Ali was fully ready to fight Holmes.

Holmes always had his mouth going so that doesn't say a lot either. For sure he would never complain prefight that his preparations are bad.

There's no question that Holmes was way past his best when he fought Tyson. Whether he was shot or not is a matter of definition.

Ali took meds to get down to that weight which, as you have admitted and as is it's widely known as well as confirmed by Ali himself, burned him off. Holmes didnt need any meds or dieters, he took his legs and arms to work the natural way. There is a difference.

and for that fight it didnt matter what damn weight ali was gonna come in at, he was a dead man walking. there's no comparison really.

holmes wasnt going to go into the fight with Tyson untrained. You wanna know why? Because he was scared, and because he was too damn stubborn to think that he would ever loose. Those are the 2 things, fear and confidence, are what makes a fighter train.

thing is, Holmes said he was prepared, and i believe him. what he said afterwards is not relevant.

Tyson got a bit of a free shot at Holmes since Larry's right hand was trapped on the ropes. I'm not one of those who believe that this made any difference in the result though.

People tend to forget that as good as Holmes looked in some of his comeback fights, he was also nearly knocked out by Maurice Harris and Jesse Ferguson!

In some of his fights his opponents were landing almost at will because of his shot reflexes but he was just so crafty that no one aside from a prime Mike Tyson was able to finish him.

You can't get up when the ref takes the mouthpiece out for you and you're still on the ground when ppl rush the ring. With all the pride Holmes had he would of gotten up quick if he did. Also all the **** talking he did before the match.
