Holmes wen't to sleep there, he was out cold. But Holmes came to win that night, and was winning rounds before he got laid out. I too think this is probably Tysons second best win after the Spinks fight. Nobody and I repeat nobody ever ****ed up Holmes like this, not even when he made a comeback years later and almost beat a prime Holyfield.
g man dont even bother with that guy Poet, especially with anything that involves Tyson. he's got so much hatred towards Mike he would probably favor todays's version of Leon Spinks over prime tyson. LMAO Poet's a joke of a poster. i dont see how he's respected on here when he insults everybody left and right.
Holmes had very little preparation for that fight and was shot to **** anyway. No way this is Tyson's best win.
it was certainly not what you make it out to be. people arent so vocal about competition of their favourite fighters. Yeah i like Wlad too, but holmes on mike's resume is better than anyone on Wlad's resume.
truth is during his lay off, Holmes, and this is according to Holmes himself, did routine roadwork, and frequently sparred with fighters in his gym while keeping his weight down. In truth he wanted a piece of Tyson's ass ever since Mike stepped up to the plate of title contention and Holmes been calling him out.
Larry's 2 losses prior to retirements were hardly beat downs, and both were fights that he thought he won.
Not making an excuse for Larry, that certainly was no vintage Larry Holmes, no way. But he was far, and far, far away from being 'shot to ****' as you claim. Coming back to put up a scrap against a guy that greased lennox in McCal. Outpoint the undefeated Ray Mercer, and spend 12 spiritted rounds with Prime Holyfield all while fighting for another decade.
