Jeff Lacy's resume was about the same as Calzaghe's during the same time of the early parts of their careers, and you saw what happened to him. Joe's opponents during the early portion of his career is why it's hard for me to recognize him in the light of other great fighters. But I can't deny his ability to beat an overhyped fighter like Chad Dawson.

I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I think if there was a stoppage in this fight I think Chad would be on the receiving end. Even though Chad does punch harder than Joe he doesn't use it to his advantage by taking rounds off and letting the other opponent get free offense off on him. You just can't do that with Calzaghe. Another thing too, Chad is someone who got floored BY A JAB FROM ERIC HARDING. This is just something to think about. He was also out on his feet by Glen Johnson and even Johnson doesn't punch as hard as Bernard Hopkins or Roy Jones. He's more of an accumulation puncher that wears you down by attrition and Chad was hanging on for dear life during the 10th round from one punch by him. I don't think Calzaghe has ever been in that much trouble. I know he was knocked down by Roy and Bernard but he shook it off and kept fighting like there was nothing to it. And I had Hopkins beating Calzaghe at the end of their fight. I think the dirty tactics and craftiness that Bernard used against Joe would get him the victory over Dawson as well.

I gotta admit that calzaghe's volume slapping and endless stamina could tire out dawson. a late stoppage by shear volume of slapping could get calz a stoppage... kinda like the manfredo fight.
