Someone explain this to me in a way that makes sense.

Why fight Cloud in a DEAD division when you can go down to SMW and fight the bigger names there? What BENEFIT is there to fighting Cloud over Froch, Green, Ward, Kessler, Taylor? Its not like these guys are push overs.

Elaborate. Explain how that is a better career move.

I didnt know he said he was gonna move to 168... If hes moving down why fight johnson?... He said he didnt want to fight him for ****. why not vacate the belt and challenge a "name" @ 168 and leave cloud and johnson in a dry division

Plenty of fights to be made at 175. There's 2 german based champions (Garay and linear champion Zsolt Erdei). If he would travel to Germany he would pick up some serious cash and he'll be a heavy favourite as well.

The money is big in Germany. Remember that Felix Sturm defended against a japanese no-hoper and still earned a whopping 1.1 million euros in what was really just a heated sparring session.

Are people criticizing Chad for taking the rematch the boxing community has asked for?

I'd rather see him take on Johnson than the virtually unknown Cloud.

btw, I like what I've seen of Tavoris. Hes just not presenting a big enough fight to get ahead of the deserving Johnson.

Amen to that. Everyone was complaining about the Johnson-Dawson rematch not happening. Then after he pursues the fight the fans wanted, the fans still criticize. I guess it goes to show that haters will be haters, even if it means changing their story.

Tough situation for Chad, everyone wants the Jonnson rematch, but Cloud has been patiently waiting for his mandatory shot and rules are rules.

I'm glad the IBF stuck to their guns, but still I wish something could have been worked out.

BUT, look at it this way - If Chad beats Johnson again and Cloud beats Woods, Cloud would make a little bit more of a name for himself and of course he would have Chad's old belt. It would be a great set up for a Dawson vs Cloud title fight. Much more compelling.

plus.... chad. .is just playing by the rules....

cloud will eventually get his shot... and this is just how the game is played...

and like I say... for his resume.. a solid win in a rematch with glencoffe will look better.

Belts don't mean anything to these guys today! People pay more attn to the P4P rankings than the beltholders. All the belt is good for is leveraging the fighter into bigger money fights. So if you can get a better/larger money fight by giving up the belt than why not do it? What he did makes very good sense. And can't be seen as "ducking" anyone. You guys that think so may think differently if you're ever in that situation.
