the best at 140. Really? Manny Pacquiao just won the 140lb title. How the *** would the winner of this fight constitute the best at 140lbs. Right now I have Bradley as the #2 LWW in the world and the rightful contender to Pacquiao's throne, so the winner would keep that status. I don't think Manny is going to address the situation here for a little bit, but he can't lose his status unless he publicly states he isn't going to fight at 140 anymore, or is defeated in the ring.Comment

so exactly how long does one keep the "#1 at 140" crown, even though the odds of him ever fighting the #2, #3, #4, #5, etc. etc, at 140 are about zero?Comment

we both know he fights there once maybe twice. And we both understand the unfortunate game YOU have to play with the sanctioning bodies and such. But if Manny makes it clear he isn't going to fight at 140 then we have a vacant title. For you and your man, the sooner the better. Because if you do land that Bradley fight (and God I hope so) then we could be talking about Nate being the linear champion finally.Comment

And this is what i dont like about all this big names, How is Manny going to lose at 140 if he doesnt fight any of the contenders there?? Not saying manny would lose to anyone at 140 but how are we going to know if he would if he doesnt fight anyone there??
Hatton did the samething for 4 years but at least he fought Maussa to unify and Paulie M, I agree with the earlier poster who said if the Bradley/Campbell fight gets made we need to start thinking about making the winner the number one guy at 140.Comment

If the number one guy is going to fight catchweight fights, or wait for mayweather, i really would like it if pac vacated the belt. Defend it or surrender it IMO. None of his upcoming fights support the idea that he plans on staying at 140. I honestly wouldnt have a problem with pac being the man at 140 if he was actually planning on staying there or fought the competition on that level. And this is what i dont like about all this big names, How is Manny going to lose at 140 if he doesnt fight any of the contenders there?? But the problem is he cant really vacate the Ring belt unless they take it away from him which i really doubt, Paq is at a stage now where he would be fighting at a catchweight against the biggest earners.
He wouldnt fight anyone at 140 who doesnt bring him money unless the Mayweather fight happens at 140 but i really dont see him fighting the Bradley's,Campbell or even Guzman at 140.
And i dont blame him because boxing is all about money and all this guys at 140 dont really bring the sort of money Paq would want so he gets to be the "Man" for as long as he want unless he officially move up.Comment

Him and mayweather basically faced the same problem. Fighting bigger fights for bigger money and bigger names, or work on cleaning out a division that provides neither. Their runs are becoming identical, thats why jumping weight in this day and age only proves so much. But the problem is he cant really vacate the Ring belt unless they take it away from him which i really doubt, Paq is at a stage now where he would be fighting at a catchweight against the biggest earners.

Yep but i doubt Pacquiao would get any heat thrown at him for not fighting any light-welterweights, Mayweather would surely get it though lol.Comment

knockouts do that. They also distort perception. Which is why if they cross paths, people will find out that like winky wright said "its called boxing, not knockouts"Comment
