Wait until the end of 2010 and you will have seen Floyd earn respect back from some of his detractors (even though it's possible he loses (to Pac) in the process)Using JMM as an example isn't the greatest idea for the fact that we are nearing the end of JMM's career and he is taking on challenge after challenge.
Marquez also declined a fight with Pacquiao because of his lack of humility. He felt he deserved way more money for the rematch and as a matter of his own principle (and pride) he chose a significantly lesser purse with a dangerous fighter. That, to me, alludes to the idea "its not about money, its about respect" which favors my position a little more.
In the end, it all comes down to who you want to be. You want to be a business man? Or do you want to be a legend?
It isn't like you can't be both either. Marquez is doing it. Bhop did it. Why can't others?
He obviously chose Marquez with the bigger picture in mind (Pacquiao) and I am absolutely convinced he will fight at least one of Mosley and CottoComment

I'm not even talking about Floyd, in fact I havent even mentioned him . I'm talking about in general. This goes for any athlete in the position of making insane of amounts of money.Wait until the end of 2010 and you will have seen Floyd earn respect back (even though it's possible he loses (to Pac) in the process)

Imagine if teams were able to chose who they wanted to play in the NFL or NBA? Constantly avoiding the best or more difficult teams for the most money? Could we actually call these teams the best?
As far as Floyd, I never once said homeboy shouldnt be choosing money. Its his life. Its his health. Its his family.
but what many of the Floyd fans fail to understand on this site is, if he's going to mouth of, say he's fighting for legacy, fighting for HOF notches, but then avoid the biggest challenges out there, then claim so and so aren't worthy of his time, you can expect that he will experience WARRANTED hate.Comment

oh right. well i was reading between the lines i guess..... and i'm getting predisposed to be on the defensive constantly
He does care about legacy, it's pretty clear to see he has love for the sport and obviously has something of a fragile ego (thus craves acclaim and acceptance)As far as Floyd, I never once said homeboy shouldnt be choosing money. Its his life. Its his health. Its his family.

I will say this though, I wouldn't put so much stock into what comes out of his mouth. He is brash and boisterous and not to mention the lengths he goes to to hype up his fights. And I would say he's just a little too involved to be objective about his career
But like I said, this speculation will all be proved redundant by the end of 2010 when Floyd has fought the fights everyone wants him to fightComment

I actually agree with this. I've said this numerous times. You can sense a bit of need for belonging. Need to be beloved by fans. But I think with his current fighting style, he understands that kind of love and adoration will not come. And I know the reason he takes on the heel role, the reason he is arrogant and brash on camera is because he needs to sell the fight due to his fighting style not able to sell the fight for him like it does for Pacquiao and other action fighters.
I've never been annoyed by his on camera persona. I've never said I hate his personality. I know what he's doing and why he's doing it.

We'll just see how it plays out. I'm an American before anything else. It would be nice to be able to say I am a fan of an American fighter who takes on challenges and is the best because of it.Comment

A little but remember Floyd's closest fights came against Castillo and Oscar
Against Castillo he had an injured shoulder and was outweighed by 10+ lbs
Against Oscar he was outweighed by 15lbs, the fight still wasn't really that close tbh
Cotto can bodypunch like Castillo, he has a stiff jab like Oscar and he outweighs Floyd by 10+ lbs
No smaller man will beat Floyd, he's just too good and too smart
I fear Cotto more than i fear Pac
Mosley would be easy work, really easy
Floyd has always been a better, smarter fighter than Shane and Sug is a little past it, Floyd is all wrong for himComment
