Can you honestly call yourself the best when the only motivation you have is money?

Was Mc Hammer the best rapper when he was making all that flow? Was Vanilla Ice?

If your goal is to be as ****** rich as possible, then more power to you. But you cant say you do it for the props, you do it for the money.

"I'm not the best out there, but I'm the best at making money."

I'm not opposed to making money. I don't think anyone is. But it's pretty ridiculous to claim you're the best thats doing it when the only motivating factor is money by itself.

As much as boxing is a business, it is also a sport. In sports, athletes compete to be the best. To be the best, you defeat those who ARE the best.

If Boxing was JUST a business, it would be JUST entertainment. It would be WWE.

The idea is to prove you are the best on your way up beat the best to be the best and then after that make your dough. there is no doubt 50 was the hottest artist in the game on his mixtapes and his 1st album then he made some dough and formulated a potion of product that sells out in the tores. When you are that good in boxing and liked by the way people will pay to see you win. For godsake people paid to See mike Tyson perform in a circus like act right? It is what it is and people take advantage of that no shame in the game. It is what it is.....When you get in that ring you are risking you life risking perminant damage it is a risk all fighter take each time they get in there. They get paid ish for most of their crreers for risking their lives when they finally make it big they let the money coem to them and play the risk reward game....Ask JMM about the Chris John fight and what he passed up to take that fight and how much he got paid for it....See if he would make the same decision again,.....It is what it is I aint saying I love the idea but the game is so....Lefty

Using JMM as an example isn't the greatest idea for the fact that we are nearing the end of JMM's career and he is taking on challenge after challenge.

Marquez also declined a fight with Pacquiao because of his lack of humility. He felt he deserved way more money for the rematch and as a matter of his own principle (and pride) he chose a significantly lesser purse with a dangerous fighter. That, to me, alludes to the idea "its not about money, its about respect" which favors my position a little more.

In the end, it all comes down to who you want to be. You want to be a business man? Or do you want to be a legend?

It isn't like you can't be both either. Marquez is doing it. Bhop did it. Why can't others?
