  • Mayweather: I was ready to give Hatton a rematch after Marquez and then Retire!

Ricky Hatton's blown it, says Floyd Mayweather Jnr

icky Hatton blew a 25million-dollar payday when Manny Pacquiao beat him earlier this month, according to Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

Hatton was knocked out in round two and the prospects of a rematch with Mayweather disappeared before the British idol had regained consciousness.

Hatton was stopped by Mayweather in 10 volatile rounds in December 2007 and the Manchester boxer has made no secret of his desire to get sweet revenge.

"I was ready to fight Ricky one more time and give him another chance to beat me," said Mayweather.

"Ricky is an old-fashioned warrior and I was happy to fight him in either London or Manchester.

"I told him when I beat him the first time that we could possibly do it all again.

"The Pacquiao fight was a test - if he had won there would have been a big cheque for a fight against me. I was shocked by the Pacquiao loss and it would be cruel now to fight Ricky again."

Hatton is on holiday in Tenerife with his young son and his long-term partner and he is expected to announce when he returns that he will fight again.

Mayweather was in London on Thursday and Friday to promote his return to the ring in Las Vegas on July 18, when he meets Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez in a mismatch over 12 rounds.

"The plan was one fight and then a potential bigmoney fight against Hatton," added Mayweather, who will be taller, have longer reach and is naturally about one stone heavier than Marquez.

"Everybody knows how much I respect Ricky but now I will have to look for other options after Marquez.

"I wanted to fight Ricky in front of his fantastic fans because I believe that I've also got a lot of support here in Britain.

"Ricky needs to walk away now and give up on the boxing dream.
