the knock on pacquiao since he beat barrera was that promoters and tv thought he wouldn't be able to draw in the u.s. being filipino.

mexicans vs. pacquiao was an angle they could sell to the american public where mexican-americans make a huge and important portion of the boxing audience in america.

Are they as top-notched as the Mexican fighters on that weight class, 122lbs-140lbs?
Even at a higher weight class, there's no pure american fighters that are good or exciting to watch... they need to make a story-line just to sell the fights, which is fine.
