And I'm sure you feel that way with anybody that actually knows how to think and doesn't agree with you.

As Benny Leonard keeps pointing out, some fighters are soldiers and some are generals. Pac is a soldier, he wouldn't have achieved what he has without Roach. But he's still an ATG. They just didn't split up - for which Pac deserves credit. Tyson is a soldier, he wasn't the same fighter after he split with Rooney. That's just the way it was. And this thread is about whether the version of Tyson who had Rooney in his corner could have beaten Lewis or not, so what he became later is completely irrelevant to this thread.

That's a huge exaggeration, he hurt him but he didn't even knock him down, and all it proves is that Holyfield had off-nights too. Carl Williams schooled a prime Cooper, and was then destroyed by Tyson.

The ropes held EH up thats the only reason he did not go down.

He did get schooled by Williams, but Cooper also beat the **** of Henry Tillman in another war. Tillman beat Mike Tyson in the amateurs to, Cooper also had Moorer on ***** street, he had an all out way war with Ray Mercer who is not a push over. You disrespect Mercer's win over Cooper when he was one tough mofo. Anyway Mercer would give Tyson hell believe me, if he can take Lewis,Witherspoon's shots and walks through them. I think he could take Tyson into a long fight, and one thing Mercer is, is consistent and if Tyson was not ready for a battle he would be in trouble.

You seriously are going to bring up the amateurs?

You do know Tyson barely had any fights as an amateur as well, right?

And remind me again what happened when they met in the Pros?

And yes, Tyson has to be trained to win...but I see Tyson winning a decision against Mercer if he is.

Yes they're rather short on thoughtful analysis aren't they. inferno much more so, though, at least P4P GOAT seems to have watched some boxing in his life. But P4P GOAT seems stuck on whether Tyson was or was not the same fighter after his split with Rooney. If he was not (which he sort of admitted in a recent post), then what happened after the split is irrelevant in terms of judging whether Lewis would have beaten that version of Tyson.

            • You guys are idiots, you claim i don't watch boxing, but I am defending Lewis, who is a "boxer" over Tyson who is a hyped up thug!

I think he is saying you only have a Lewis poster on your wall and vaseline in your other hand...and that is as far as it goes. But I could be wrong so you will have to clear it up with him.

                  It happened.

I dont think Mercer would beat him but Dave Rado talks about Lewis's inability to beat Mercer comfortably like he was a walk over, when you i and both know that Mercer was anything but a walk over, when he was ready and in the mood for a fight.

He would of given Mike just as many problems as he did Lewis. He had an iron chin and he was strong as hell physically.

I did not say he was a walk-over. Mercer would have given anyone a tough fight, but Lewis should have won a wider decision than he did, and would have done on his best nights, IMO.

And IMO the version of Tyson who had Rooney in his corner would have won a clear UD against Mercer, rather than a majority decision.

One of my favorite fights with Lewis was against Mercer. Mercer made him gut out that win it showed everybody how tough Lewis was. Mercer was a tough S.O.B. in his prime...which also pisses me off a bit when you have the Wlad nuthuggers acting like Mercer was still in his prime or near it when he met Wlad. That's wasn't the same fighter Lewis fought. I argued that point.

I still love the KO victory over Morrison that Mercer had. He ate Tommy's shots and spit them right back out on his face.

Mercer could be out-boxed though by certain fighters. But yes, he was tough as hell and gave tough fights.
