As Evandery Holyfield said about Pernell Whitaker. If you flinch, he wont punch, but as soon as you don't flinch he will.

Rigondeaux showed some truly incredible tactical thinking, albeit against extremely limited opposition.
I wasn't overly impressed either, but, other than getting the guy out of there- how impressive are most fighter's first bout ever? Hopkins lost his first fight, right? I mean, there's a reason why we don't give television exposure to guys without a dozen or so fights generally. They need to polish themselves up. The amateurs is about scoring points, winning rounds, etc. Professional boxing is the big leagues. Rigondeaux didn't make me wet my pants, but I doubt I'll pay much heed to the guy for a few years.

If you think he doesn't have power, you should look at what he was able to do in the amateurs.

      The guy CAN punch.

126 pounders with real 1 punch power are kind of rare, so that does not really bother me, but I think he is going to get a decent ammount of stoppages because of his counter punching.
He just needs to tighten up his defense and stop the bull****in'.

He's not gonna be able to measure his shots and keep his hands low in front of experienced boxers.

With that said, I was very impressed by his hand speed and timing.

I have never liked the pawing jab tatic, a south paw throwing a jab like that is asking to be hit with a straight right hand from an orthodox fighter. I like sharp snappy jabs and he could have atleast mixed one snappy jab in there with the pawing ones (because I am sure he can throw a decent jab). It is just something I am looking at going forward with him.

I liked the way he looked poised and patient not doing anything he did not want to do. I am pretty high on him though, I like the way he fights (jab excluded).

It's hard for me to say because he was in with a guy that was totally over-matched. But I would love to hear what Juanma has to say.

The hype is high for Rigondeaux, but I'm more interested in Lara (pause).

Perhaps you forgot who this guy is and what he has done.

                2000 Olympic Gold Medalist
                2001 World Amateur Champion
                2003 Pan-American Gold Medalist
                2004 Olympic Gold Medalist
                2005 World Amateur Champion
2006 Central American Games Gold Medalist

This guy has been fighting and beating the best fighters in the world since he was 18.

When people say he is perhaps the best Amateur of all time. They are not joking.

I would go with Vasil, simply because the guy is one of the few rare amateurs that can adopt to the guys. That is besides the fact of his upper body movement, footwork and arsenal.
Dont take it as if Rigondeoux is a slouch, he is a genious in his own way and is probably gonna be closer to guys like Hopkins and maybe even sweet pea(whitaker fans, please dont kill me) but Lomachenko will be the fighter that Joe Calzaghe should have been.
