maybe someone can help me. He will sell at least 6k tix. Is he demanding too much $ from versus or something? This makes no sense. He's a lineal/ring champ who doesn't fight chumps and fights every 2-3 months. He is everything we want our champs to be. I would like some help understanding why either fight can't get on. Who's fighting that week on espn? I would drop whoever it is, unless they r selling more than 6k tix and have a ring belt.
Why can't Tomasz Adamek get on television in the US anymore?

ESPN's budget is notoriously small.
Guys fight there for exposure and Adamek already has exposure.
They can't afford one of his fights unless of course he fights in Poland like that one time that he fought on Saturday afternoon.
Maybe it's the date that is messing them up.Comment

Good point, Adamek deserves a fight on a major network. I have to say though, Godfrey doesn't exactly excite me either.
The fight between Tomasz Adamek and Matt Godfrey for July 10 has now been cancelled, because the ShoBox decision makers though it wouldn't be a good enough fight.
Recently, a proposed fight between Adamek and Glen Johnson was turned down, first by HBO, and then by Showtime.
Now, HBO is saying they are interested in Hopkins-Adamek, but not until 2010.
I thought everybody considered the fight between Adamek and Cunningham to be a good one. And Adamek's other performances, against O'Neil Bell and Jonathan Banks were very impressive as well...
But for some reason the executives at Showtime don't want to have him on any more.
It's funny though, HBO loves Hopkins, even though he isn't a huge draw and his fights are boring. They love Winky Wright and the same applies. Yet Adamek who draws good crowds and gets in exciting fights, can't buy a bucket as we like to say. It's a shame.
I can't wait for like 3-4 years to go by when all the old peices of furniture have finally been replaced. Boxing will be much more interesting. Here's the list of guys that need to leave so the youth can move forward:
Hopkins
Wright
Mosley
Roy Jones
Tarver
They had great careers, but HBO's fixation with them has left us with sellable fights, but not great fights.Comment

The guys like last 4 fights have been on t.v. Not sure why you guys act like this guy isn't getting good airtime. Truth is the cruiserweight division is garb and really doesn't have to many good fighters. You bet your ass if Adamek fought Flores, Cunningham, or Afolobi it would be put on t.v. I have never seen this Godfrey ever fight on t.v.Comment

Yeah, but Adamek-Johnson... can you explain to me how that could be a bad fight!?The guys like last 4 fights have been on t.v. Not sure why you guys act like this guy isn't getting good airtime. It's not like they just turned the Godfrey (Who I have never heard of, tbh) fight down, they also turned down a Glen Johnson fight!Comment

Yeah Adamek should really be on TV. Maybe he should start talking more crap like "I'm feeling like kicking some US black ass, and it's going to be so violent they don't want to show it on TV, these US cans suck, Dawson come here this time i'll make u pay for slowing down" these sort of controversial stuff certainly works. If he's not that kind of guy, today's boxing isn't for him, no matter how good he is. Still it sucks Judah can still get a fight and Adamek can't, just because he's quiet.Comment
